I need to start making a serious list of stuff to go in the geo. I need to rebuild the motor. i need to get a new A/C Compressor. I Need to for sure findout about the tapping in the engine, probably the rocker arm. I just Put in a new starter b/c the old one was dead i guess, anyway the car is still a nusiance. I would like to know in all seriousness what i can do to just make this thing run good BASICALLY: I would like to know about how much money i have to make to get my engine rebuilt. i figure 400-800 bucks. I would like to know if 3Tech Performance makes 4CYL Racing exhaust Headers or hell the stock ones. I would like to know where i can get a new complete exhaust pipe (from exhaust header to the muffler) for my car. I would like to know all the parts that 3 Tech makes that will go on my 4CYL. Not trying to be a ass but i can never find the stuff. I would Looooooooooooove To Know Where I Can Buy A Good Gas Gauge. And How To Hook It Up Properly. I Dont Care about fixing this inaccurate crap I want an accurate ass Gauge Probably needs to be digital., i've had enough of the cars problems it is just a money toilet. Every time i got to a gas station with the needle way in the red i can only get 6.5 gallons in. Enough dammit i need to be able to use those extra 3 or 4 gallons so i can save money. it ridiculous. I want it FIXED! Edited by Nick, Sep 1 2010, 11:05 AM.

Well, I'll start with a few links, I underline my links.. 3Tech does not make headers. Suzuki Racing Development does but the quality is suspect. Click: $270 header but add shipping and welding. 3Tech would be good for a head rebulid, valve, bolts or "econo" cam - you want reliability. Click: geometroforum.com/3Tech and then either Head Packages, Head Bolts, Camshafts & Gears and/or Valves. PM or email geometroforum.com/3Tech I got lucky with my SRD header (it was not warped), bought a Catalytic converter and muffler on line and had a local (recommended) muffler shop weld it together for about $60. The shop would not touch my 'not smog approved' racing header so I bolted it on, clamped the Cat. on and drove it over to be welded. Sorry about the gas gauge. Nobody has replaced it that I have read of, I am waiting to read a new post of someone repairing it but so far no go. You have to pull the tank so you might just as well clean it and readjust the float. Clean all your electrical grounds. Click on: Change fuel pump DIY. Various kits and parts from http://www.store.partsdinosaur.com/ Piston kits $70-$90. Or search eBay. |

If your car is 4 cylinder auto, sell it and get another one. For the price of a rebuild and parts/time/labor, you can get a better one. |

1. Not selling for the simple fact this is actually the only one anywhere around here, and i couldnt get crap for it. 2. Y in the hell would i buy another Geo? nuff said. 3. The next thing i buy is gonna be new b/c i have grownup with used crap and im sick of it all. Everything is either not working or falling apart and or there is some mystery problem with the item, So i will not get another used P.O.S. ESPECALLY ANOTHER ONE OF THESE CARS. not hating on the geo exactly but dam! i didnt have this many problems with my cavalier, and it didnt run. hell none of the brokedown cars or trucks that were in my yard have repeatedly screwed up like this thing. 4.I guess if i really just wanted to get the car faster i could buy a 6 Cyl car. b/c hell even after i would put all these parts on, the car would still b slow and y. mine anyway.

Problem lies with used cars, not with Metros. I've had six Metros (out of about 15 cars altogether) and the Metros have more reliable than any other car I've had. They tend to be owned by youngsters and poor people though, and aren't properly maintained. Buying a high mileage one is often a can of worms because things have been neglected at best and jury-rigged or patched together at worst. I'm with Nick about the new car thing. It's wonderful to buy a car and drive it 100K miles with no problems whatsoever. Stick with Japanese if you want this outcome, I'm still loving Suzuki for cheap and reliable. Problem with the new car thing is that it's expensive as hell. |

Nick, Bring it up here and drop it on my doorstep, sign the title and I'll give it to my daughter. I'll run you to the Suzuki dealer by my house and you can pick out a new car for the return trip. The SX4 looks like a real nice car/SUV blend. Bigger than the Metro, Smaller than a Escalade, Decent mileage. Seriously though, If you are that "Over It" then you should re-think your transportation alternatives. I would recommend a slightly used car instead of new. Buy a car that is 1 year old with 10,000 miles on it and you will get the benefit of new without the loss of depreciation. |

funny. and if i had of really worked on the car in depth then i would agree but ive only done basic stuff to my car. i just think the girl that owned ( blew the motor, and did whatever else is wrong with the car it.) the car before me needed to be shot in the knees. Also. the only two cars that i would consider getting is either a 2010 Camaro Blk w/red hockey stripes. uh this ones ok but no stripes. www.smallblock.org/ chevrolet-camaro 88-2010-c...shop.html And a 2002 Cavalier Coupe

go to consumer reports and read on the cavalier, it got their lowest rating throughout its run, they are not well built, and if you don't like having to work on a car that keeps breaking stuff it is not what you want. |

Woodie I agree with almost everything you said here. I am American and proud of it. Best country in the world. I have American pride. I fly American flags at my house. You say stick with Japanese if you want a reliable car. I love my Metro and is very reliable but I've had all American made before this and would stand firmly behind American products and would suggest others do the same. Almost everything is produced in China these days. There goes more American jobs! |
