I got a set of 185/70R13 tires for free today, and they are about brand new? Should I mount them on my metro or are the too big? Will they help or hurt FE? I have access to a tire mounter so that will be free so, let me hear you thoughts. |

i say mount em!!! free is always good and if you do alot of freeway driving it will lower your rpms at any given speed. with that being said, if you live in really hilly terrain it could hurt mileage slightly, but if you live somewhere flat like iowa or ill it will help some. |

I live in nd so it is very flat and I do a ton of freeway driving. So low rpms is good. Let's here some more opinions guys |

They're wider than stock, which will hurt FE, but they're also taller than stock (not sure how much taller since we don't know what year Metro you have), which will help on the highway. So unless you're ultra-concerned about FE and have to get max mileage, run them. You got them for free, so you already saved. |

If they don't rub, then run them! You may notice a loss of power, but at highway or cruising speed, the taller tire will net better mileage. |

Free tires are cheaper per mile. |

I ran the size on a tire calculator and it said that the tires are .5 inches taller than stock so they should be fine and not rub. |

Height is not the only thing that could make them rub. The width matters too. |

In the case of these tires, you should be fine, when your speedometer reads 60mph the actual speed will be 61.2mph or 2% faster. The width difference is 1.2" , I'd say run em. |
