I saw this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Geo-Metro-POWER-REMOTE-CONTROL-TRUNK-HATCH-KIT-body-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5d2a5098d2QQitemZ400141883602QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Got me to wondering, was the Metro made with a popper? $30 seems reasonable, but, if I can "pull a part" a cable and handle like a (excuse me for mentioning) Toyota, that is like $5. Yeah, yeah, I know, got to get it running before I add accessories, that should be done by Wednesday. Digging the key out of a pocket or having to turn the motor off for two seconds of hatch opening is not that great a task. All other vehicles we have do not require a key to pop a trunk or hatch, just need retraining the brain, or some remote opener. |

Some Metro's did indeed come with a trunk "popper", they just don't seem to be too common. Not sure about adapting some other version to a Metro. Somewhere in the forum there are posts about adding a trunk release, I bet a search would turn them up. Good Luck. |

Sometimes I still open the trunk of my Toyota Paseo with the key, completely forgetting about the trunk popper! Then I realize, oh yeah. The trunk popper. LOL. |

I would imagine any cable capable of say, adjusting the throttle on a mower would suffice with probably the same amount of modification required as getting one from a different make of car. You would need a mounting place for the lever/actuator, cable clamps (to hold it in place), and a hole in the trunks opener to accept the end of the cable. What a full kit looks like :

Or just hit the pic and pulls. Mcmancuso has gotten quite a few from his area, and he sold me mine. It's super nice. They are different on 89-94 and 95+, although the change is irritatingly small. |
