Loosen the bolt in the pulley tensioner and the bolt in the adjuster to adjust belt and be sure to tighten both back. If you just tighten the adjuster and not the tensioner your belt will walk on the cam gear. |

jumped time again. Which belt is which? Theres one that I can slide up and down like the alternator and the other one sits inside of the pully. I figured out how to get the tab into that pully, and the spring is attached to the slidy thing at the bottom but I havent a clue how to make it tighten on its own, or do I have to, put the belt on then tighten it up somehow? |

The spring should pull it over if you have the bolt in the idler loose and the bolt in the slider thingy. |

spring doesnt seem to be strong enough. I just found a guide saying to put the belt on then to push the tensioner down to tighten up the belt. Then tighten everything back up and start to check timing. |

If everything is right the spring does the adjusting. Then after you have it adjusted, rotate engine a couple of times and recheck timing marks. If it dont seem tight enough you can push it over a little by hand, just dont over do it and get it too tight. Main thing is dont forget to tighten both bolts. |

spring isnt doing it still. And the belt just keeps sliding off over and over. Its at about 3/4 tightness. Shouldnt a new belt need less. |

What is the number on the belt and where did you get it? How is it comming off? Are you trying to crank it or rotating the engine or what? |

Are you rotating the engine forward (with the 2 tensioner bolts loose) at least one revolution to set the tension? |

How to do, align timing marks on crank and cam loosen bolts in pulley tensioner and adjuster put belt on and the adjuster should slide the tensioner over to belt rotate engine a couple of times and realign marks and check Tighten both bolts, tensioner and adjuster That should do it and give you enough time left for a little hunnymooning loving tonight! |

Everytime I turn it with the starter the bottom tic mark ends up being about six teeth to the left. The belt is slowly sliding off, but just a bit. Before it was doing it and then sitting halfway off, now its doing it about an 1/8th. It does this when I crank it by hand or with the starter. When I do the belt I'm putting the whole thing on the bottom, setting the tensioner as loose as possible, then siding 3/4 of it on the top. Then i'm using a wrench with a 17mm socket to turn the top pulley to get the rest of it on. Is this the correct way to get the damn thing on? This is how I had to do it on a Dodge neon a year or so back but it just keeps ending up wrong. Before now the old belt hung off a little bit about the same amount as this one all the time. Belt is from Autozone serial is :94333/95241 |

Bryan try tighting your bolts up in the tensioner pulley and backing it off just a bit. Maybe you have it so loose it is walking off the cam gear. Turn the engine over a couple of times by hand with a socket instead of the starter and then check your belt. If it looks good then tighten everything up. If it dont, loosen the pulley bolt a little more and rotate it again a time or two and see how it looks again. |

Only belt I see on autozone is the duralast 95241. Dont know what the other number you had there is but the 95241 is right. |

Also you do not want to move your cam gear to put your belt on. Marks have to stay aligned when installing belt. |
