I merged the 2 threads together to clean up the board a little bit.

Note: "Gary's Exodus" lol
Thanks, slander. Couldn't figure out how to change original title on existing thread, which became misleading, so created new thread.

Make sure you have AAA or an equivalent and no were to go in a hurry. If it was mine, ... I wouldn't, ... You have a lot of spare parts to your engine that you could just ruin by casually driving it around.

He's down for the count, ... leave him some dignity. :P
Certainly not by choice--mini van and full-size van filled (to the gills) with wife's antiques for show tomorrow. Gary has been my go-to vehicle for months, and we needed to eat! No frivolous drives here . . .

(Pan back on and fetched dinner food at co-op, 3 more miles--whew!)

My transplants were shipped on a pallet. They were out of Automatics so I had to switch over the clutch assy. (which looked good) and anything that looked better was put or left on the transplant.

How much does an engine assembly weigh? (1.3L)

(Looked around, but couldn't find this anywhere)

Thanks!

I lifted the engine with the trans still connected by myself and carried it about 25'.

I'd guess 180 - 200 pounds.

My 1.0s were shipped on a pallet and billed at 115 lbs. So roughly 100 for the engine/3=33x4 for a 1.3 = 132 plus transmission and that means Bill CNC is no girly-man. B-) :lol

Sometimes, a screw-up is a good thing!

Called to get a tracking number on Gary's transplant. Turns out it hadn't shipped yet (a week and a half later), but was about to. Verified the info, 1.3L '97 Metro AT, and they said "yes, a 1.3L from a PRIZM AT". What? Ok, quick look at Wikipedia, tell them its either 1.6L or 1.8L and won't work.

They determine its a clerical error (not 1.3L) and agree it won't work in Gary. Actually thanked me for catching it before ship!

So, now Gary gets a 73K mile engine ($700) instead of an 81K mile ($550) one, for the original $550!

Sweet!

Thanks!

Gary will be getting his new heart from a donor in New Hampshire.

(Hope this won't give him sudden urges to accessorize with L.L. Bean!) :)

The LL bean style won't be nearly as embarrassing as the day the car's name switches to Gari
