"I don't have to show you no stinkin water" A lot of it went real slow. I am amazed at how many ways people run their racing projects. I met kids that came out from Wis. They drove in a 72 Chevy PU. And are running it in the 130 class. Then driving it home. What a neat thing to do when you are just about 20 maybe 21.

Awwww MM, that was great! And.....you posted a picture of your truck! You were wise to put up shade and have something to drink while watching the cars go by. My favorite was the Opal GT. Can you judge about how fast each car is going when they pass your spot?

They have a AM radio station broadcasting results. But you really have to listen. Once you have seen someone run. Its easy to tell how fast every one else is going. Most of them are coming by at just over 200mph Some over 300. Today should be a big day for the 130 and 150 club guys. Gotta go the sun is trying to poke its head up. Will post more tonight.

Thats awesome MM :thumb That stretched Caddy it would be hard to judge which was hotter, the flames, or that wicked looking lake side pipe setup :drool and the Opel was just bad-ass!

Next thing you know, you'll have to get a double canopy, and stretch it over the bed of the truck so you can really rub it in, reclining listening to tunes and sipping the cold ones while everyone else sweats just looking at you :lol

After seeing what they would let run on the 130 coarse. I have been really tempted to have them tech my 59 Ford. But I don't think they would let me run with only a lapbelt. LOL But I think it would run 120+ before it just got to scary. It is after all a stock front end. They didn't call them suiside front ends for nothin. I took a lot more pics. Mostly of old Fords. A lot of records were broken this AM. Mostly on bikes. A guy with a first yr 240 set a record. They ran the fastest wheel powerd car there today. But I think they were running it in a different class. Because it got no where near 470mph. I think it only went 270 today.
As I was over at the starting line watching the cars. I say a black 3dr Metro, Mk 3. I asked the grandma there what year it is. She said she did not know. But here son knows, because he races a Metro with a snowmobile engine in it. Yup our friend Bvilleracer. I caught up with him later. He is a really cool guy. Fun to be around. It is nice to be able to put a face to a name. I am gonna meet with some folks from Min. for beers in a bit. Its hilarious, they have that cute Min. accent. LOL All in all a great day on the salt. I will try to post pics later.

This car is a first year Datsun 240Z. When I talked with the guy when he was waiting in the line up. He said he would see me later in the day in the impound yard. That is where the take the cars and bikes that qualify for a world record. And you know what. I did see his car sitting over there. So it must have been another record breaking run. There were a lot today. Some Q'ed today to set a new record too.

This truck is from Min. And the kids drove it out here and are running it in the 130 class. Then driving it home. It must be nice to be that young again. Fear less. The last I saw, he had pulled a 127mph. Almost, He was over taking parts off his truck getting ready for his next run. Classic Hot Rod Flu. The first ever known case was spotted in Muroc. Back in the 20s. But it has spread. And it seems the local variation is virulent. And thrives in the hearts of young thrill seekers from all over the world

Here is a shot of the carbs on that wicked Z Car
Posted Image
There was a cool SCCA Datsun 510 also. I like the shot on his hood. Its Alfred E. Newman. On the hood of his car, It goes to prove that its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

Here is the whole car

Very clean.
Me and the truck gettin ready to leave. I have had enough of the sun for one day. My face is a french frie. I could not wait to get out of that durned sun

I really liked this rail. It has the cow catcher front end on it, but laid wayyy back. And all the polished shell is SS. Very light though. But stain less, not alum, or titanium.

This was a cool truck, But it did not drive there. I saw it unloaded up at one of the hotels. But it looks cool

This is the local guy from my area. He pulls in the low 11s drag racing at sea level. This am when he drove by he rummbled the pipes a bit. To clear up the clys. Well it blew the air vent from on top of his valve covers clean off. He did not notice. So being a cool groovie dude, I picked it up and rode all the 4 miles down there to give it to him. He had know idea it had fallen off.

This blue steam liner I thought was cool. In the years past, they tended to run more flat body. Now they are narrow tube.

All these old Ford Coupe's I think are really cool. Its what the spirt of Bonnevillie is truly about. The hard working guy who just wants to race on the week ends a bit. Doing a lot with almost nothing. And truely making something of it that is worth a hoot. And fun to do.
This looked like something cool back from the late 59s and early 60s where almost anything goes.

Posted Image
They let a lot of clunkers run. Here is one. This thing is a OSHA violation in progress.LOL But it still ran in the 150 club. I think he later ran 165. But the thing looks pretty bad
Posted Image
I believe this car ran a record today too. I think it was like 275. But don't quote me on that

Posted Image
I did this old Ford. Flames are cool when done well.
Posted Image
I got to see this guy run today. Finally. I think he did a 175 or so. Its an Opel GT.Posted ImagePosted Image I think. It had a stretched front end but ran pretty good Posted Imagefast

Hey Billy. Great day of watchin, And taking time to reconnect with brothers, you just have not met yet. My face is on fire. But it was worth it. I think I am gonna go only about a half day tomorrow. Then gather up my stuff and head for home on a slow pace. I like what is happening on the salt. But standing out on it for 12+ hrs in the sun, will that kinds sucks. So I may head back to the coast.

I told my ex that my friend was at the salt this week. She said Oh Yea Who? Oh He is a cyber friend You dont know him. It was kind like I was taking Harvey (the invisible rabbit) to the movies. LOL No joke about the aloe, find something with a lot of Aloe in it. I am looking at a bottle called Cool Blue(it is green) Aloe Anesthetic Gel Made by Fruit of the Earth. Works pretty good

I know that someday long into the future, I will laugh about this sun burn. But not tonight. I do seem to recover from the over exposer pretty quickly.
