10mm rear sway bar, why?; Why would Nissan use a 10mm rear bar?

Good bye

My son-in law had his 92 Sentra SE up on my rack today to change the oil and it has a 10mm rear sway bar. The front bar is at least 25mm but how much good does a 10mm bar really do? We worked on this car today because it started to run on 2 cylinders. #1 and #2 were dead. Good compression, 175 all 4 and good spark, two injectors quit. We moved the injectors around and the miss followed the injectors. So a trip to our local used parts place and 4 used injectors and it runs like a champ again. This is a wrecking yard with maybe 300 cars and there are 5 Metros and 1 Swift gt, My name is on the gt so I will have Swift gt parts for sale soon. The rear discs are going on my 91. I may put 95+ fronts on because of availability. I had to replace the front crank seal last week because it started to really leak, it was oem. So now my 91 has a new cam and crank seal and new belts :)

Can't tell you but I had a 91' Sentra SE-R up until 6-8 months ago and it was a blast to drive. Great handling, tons of power, LSD, very forgiving. Don't remember much in the way of a roll bar in the back either.

On the other hand my 91' 240SX, I put a bigger bar in the back from stock and I think it worsened traction. It'd unload the inside rear wheel on turns and spin that tire. Could have used a LSD on that car.

I always thought you wanted to run a stiff rear bar for a FWD car...

Test drivers always want a stiff rear bar so they can slide the back end around. Lawyers want a stiff front bar so the car will understeer, a safer situation of the untrained driver. Accountants want them to use a part that is already on the shelf being used by another model. They all go into a room five days before production starts and duke it out, the one with the biggest fists wins.

When it comes time to swap those brakes over, the fronts are ten times as important as the rears.

Will the Swift gt brakes work with 13" Metro wheels? There are 14" wheels on the Swift but I don't know if they are very straight due to the rollover. I have read but not paid attention that the axles may have different splines.

Just for a data point, my car (RWD) always felt better on the auto-x track with the rear sway bar removed.
