Well that's likely your problem. Is the sensor connected? It's a blue connector on the backside of the air cleaner lid. |

check the grounds on the back of the intake, clean them with a wire brush and reinstall, if you still get the code, you need a new IAT. Also check the coolant lines going to the TB, make sure thy're clear and free flowing. |

Welcome to the forum, BentRods! mcmancuso also mentioned that the coolant lines on the TB have to be as warm as the radiator hose when the engine is at running temp.

Any more advice? did all of above, made no difference, in fact smokes WORSE. Now engine even runs bad. picked up a Code 31 in the process also. Put in new plugs this AM, Still appears to be running on 2 cylinders (which it has done only since the Seafoam, ground strap, etc.) was running great prior. Old plugs were very, very wet with gas when removed, engine had not been started since last night. Great little car, but I REALLY Near your help |

if it is only running on 2 cylinders because of a compression problem . that has to be addressed first what is intake vacuum at hot idle ? Teed into MAP sensor vacuum line ? what is 02 sensor voltage ? hot idle ? hot 2k rpm ? black wire is signal wire , use T pins , use DVOM . |

have you checked the spray pattern of your injector? If its dribbling instead of spraying there will be a lot of unburnt gas. |

Compression from what I have read here is ACCEPTABLE (150 x3). WAS running fine EXCEPT Running Rich, power good, no misses, no problems. Cleared codes prior to compression test. no new codes. Engine at operating temp for test, at full throttle. NO Vacuum Gauge, NO DVOM Spray pattern -- will check, hadn't thought of that! You guys are a great help, 'cept don't understand half of Mwebb's posts (LOL), but i try. Wish I knew half that much about anything, Thanks Mwebb, and all. |

vacuum tester is $12 at harbor freight, and get yourself a multimeter (DVOM) they're really good to have around, and are <$20 for one which will do what you need for testing most things on the metro, plus lots of household uses too ![]() http://www.harborfreight.com/fuel-pump-and-vacuum-tester-93547.html http://www.harborfreight.com/7-function-digital-multimeter-90899.html multimeter normally $10 on sale for $2 Edited by mcmancuso, Sep 21 2010, 03:30 PM.
