I know a lot of you guys around here are big on Harbor Freight. So does anyone have this trailer? Quality? Issues? Do you like it? Dislike it? Is it fairly light? I am looking for something to get my bike on, maybe squeeze 2 on at times. http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/trailer-trailer-accessories/1195-lb-capacity-48-inch-x-96-inch-heavy-duty-foldable-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-wheels-90154.html |

The ad says heavy duty. Ha! That is far from heavy duty. Guess it all depends on what you are going to do with it. When you say bike, I assume a motorcycle? I am just used to seeing heavier built trailers. Trailers like this usually get bent up and tore up pretty quick. First one I have seen called foldable though. |

I've owned one since 1991 hauled an ATV to California and back behind truck, it will haul anything you could safely tow behind a metro |

Make sure you keep the bearings up to par. And I probably would keep a 200lb buffer on the "max".

i have one that i bought in 2004 and it works well as long as you dont over load it. its a better light duty trailer, i use mine to tow my lawn tractor and other light stuff. i did tow a six person hot tub once but not recomended, the hot tub was empty though. |

ahh 200 pound buffer? if you tow 1000 pounds with a metro ...... yeah not me. Remember 1200 pound limit plus the 400 pounds the trailer itself weighs is MORE THAN YOUR METRO WEIGHS. its not the trailer or the motor or the tranny I am worried about. a metro can EASILY handle hauling 1000 pounds plus trailer mass. but the ATTACHMENT POINTS to attach a HITCH to your metro. ahh NO. not for 1000 pounds. My trailer is around 200 pounds. I do not like to put over 400 pounds on it and will NOT put over 500 pounds on it under any conditions. I just do not trust the metal the hitch block is mounted too to handle any more. so far its holding up like a champ. SEVEN REAR ENDINGS NOW and counting and even after all those still NO damage and NO bending or compromising visible in the metal. but still why tempt fate :-) (FYI I just got my LED Strobes in the mail today so hopefully no more rear endings!!!) they have a smaller trailer for $189 (see my little trailer) that is PERFECT for the metro. Tow a small dirt bike? sure Tow a gold wing? No way. Don't forget to account for any potential costs from the STATE to get that trailer legal (depends on what state your in some are easy some are a royal PITA and expensive) also remember there is no DECK on that trailer in the pictures. Once you add a DECK it becomes far far stronger. Edited by nerys, Sep 23 2010, 11:59 AM.

I wouldn't haul anything heavier than woodman's kayak with a Metro. Short wheelbase, FWD, and weak rear suspension are all anti-towing. (Not to mention the power issue )

I may use it with my metro on occasion, but not with much weight. It would mostly be towed behind my Jeep, and with both my motorcycles on it, that would be about 700lb. I really hope that the trailer can handle that. |

If you could put the axle over the leafs, it would lower it a tad...that should help with the handling of it. (if it starts to get squirly) Google search that trailer, there are several people using it to tow motorcycles, and they posted reviews on other forums.

2 bikes at first I would say no way but if they total 700 pounds it will be just fine. Just put a GOOD DECK on it since half your strength will come from whatever decking you put on the trailer. |

All true, but the worst factor is the brakes. Brakes on an 89-94 Metro are borderline coming out of the factory. |
