I picked this little rust bucket up for next to nothing. I originally plan on safety it but when i took the lip kit off and saw the rockers that changed. Pretty much everything underneath the car was rusted, the floor was patched gas tank had a hole in it patched with what looked like corn syrup... it sad seeing these cars getting miss treated. but the engine was great for 300 000km/s the dude i bought it off of said it was new or something but really didn't seem to know a things about the car.

As i started taking the engine apart it seemed good shape, turbo had no play in into which mad me very happy. The #1 exhaust valve was starting to burn and The EGR was COMPLETELY plugged.

I "would" have the engine all together, but unfortunately my ebay Rebuild kit had a bad batch of rods bearing.

Yes! it is rust... like WTF? it took 2 days to go from Texas to Saskatchewan the first time but the news one arn't here and its been almost 3 weeks.
I guess that gives me more time to focus on the best part which would be the harness.

i've done a few engine swaps in my short time but all very same to same i've only done one with new motor in old car a VW 84 GTi with a 92 passat 16v. and let me tell you something, the Germans got it right! you take out the harness and the computer... which is in the engine bay. and put it in the new car and voila old car new engine. But Suzuki, not so much.
my favorite part of all this is how all the engine wiring ran through the driver side into the fender then into the engine bay EXCEPT for the VAF sensor which went to the passenger side through the fender into the engine bay.
But anyway suzuki wiring is alot more fun because you have to separate the ECM harness from everything else Which has been alot of late nights, beer, soter and heat shrink. and when once your all done you can stand back and grin, as you admire the mess you have created.

any way i am pretty confident the harness will work ^o) , if not i will be force to ms it i guess :ermm:
the next couple of days will be spend mixing the harness in here until everything is nice and tangled
once my bearing and cam get here the project will hit boost :rocker and should be together quick.

Well, over the summer we have had a few DIY welding projects along with a lot of rust curing. Please keep the write-up and pictures coming.

Best of luck with this project. :thumb :thumb

And this guy will be the lucky recipient.

not gonna win any beauty Padgetts but she should last a few winters... maybe i should buy a car for more then $300 hahah but thats no fun
I noticed something cool with the MK1 T3 cam(left) vs. the MK2 T3

notice what looks like a much larger duration. I though I read somewhere that the stock duration between the two was fairly close, And maybe it is. It could be the difference between hydro lifters and rockers arms. who know.... i dont :hmm

Now I am on a hunt for #8 X 1.25 S/S studs and the like for the turbo/exhaust/Dpipe

SOOO i got this big box of 3Tech awesomeness today in the mail! :banana
I started covering it in assembly lube and almost ate it after hahah it looks like strawberry sauce

i couldn't find any SS studs in town, so i used new nuts and re cut the studs and got it going anyway. got them tight with the wrench and though"hey! i should torque them down".... you know those moments where you know you should stop, but didn't? yeah...that happened. so now i have to drill it out and re tap it :banghead fuck my torque wrench! no wonder it was $10 lol. On the bright side i guess the bolt holes on the E/M fits an M10 bolt perfectly.

you should get cleaning :lol and catch that mouse haha

almost done putting the engine back together left my clutch alignment tool at my parents though. I had a good clutch/flywheel/pressure plate in my shed but i guess it leaks so it all rusted out :shake
and i have a choice of 3 tranys
- the one that came with the engine old school 4 pinion. i guess it locks or something kinda like an LSD? i drove it 1st-3rd and it was good a little sloppy but that could be the old linkage.
- the one thats in the car im using was in great shape!
- and the other trany from a turbo motor i have(with no ECM)
im leaning towards the 4 pinion cause is sounds fun

heres the beauty, almost done!

I just need a few more things to get, and i will be dropping it in early this week.
-trany seals
-oil
-trany fluid
-crush washers for turbo oil lines
-plugs/wires/rotor/cap

Unfortunately i cant use the MK1 trany unless i mess make a custom trany mounts because thats all different... it has 3 instead of one.
so no LSDish transmission for moi :( unless i completely molest the front end which doesn't fit into my schedule at this time .
