I am the new owner of a 1992 Geo Metro LSI convertible. There is a 3 piece plastic cover for the top when it is down. The instructions in the manual supplement are a bit vague, but it appears that the two side pieces are permenently attached in some way and the center piece stores in the well. My three pieces are just loose and I've been unable to put them in place with any assurance that they will stay. If necessary, I can post a picture and possibly someone can tell me if I am missing hardware or what? The covers are in good shape, except for some empty screw holes that indicate (to me) that something is missing. |

There was originally at the front of the side pieces, a permanent bolt, which worked as a hinge to allow them to swing inward. The center piece has 2 hook-like pegs that go into the holes in the 2 side pieces, then it latches down in the center. Here's the driver side part in its pivoted forward position: ![]() Here's it all closed up with the top down: ![]() One of the side pieces on mine was broken off, just get yourself a bolt, and a locknut and put it through the hinge point in the car and side piece to restore the pivot. You may need to hammer out what's left of the broken bolt in the hole. Edited by mcmancuso, Oct 4 2010, 02:49 PM.

Thanks for the reply and pictures. I need to take a picture of my center cover. It appears that there are supposed to be a couple of plastic pins that go into the side covers at the rear, but mine are missing. There are some plastic pins at the front that evidently go into holes in the well. Yours looks nice. There is one like yours (color) in the parking lot at Cairns Army Airfield, but I haven't been able to catch the owner coming or going. I've never seen his with the top down so I don't know if he has the covers or not. I'm in Panama City most weekends and I have a cousin in Gulf shores so maybe we can get together and compare notes sometimes. bob |

There should be 2 plastic hook kinda things on the back that go into the holes in each side, then there were 2 rubber bumpers at the front. I can take a picture of the ones on mine on the morning. Look in the for sale section, there's someone parting out a convertible and he could probably sell you a good set of the hinges for the sides and the pins for the center piece. |
