Somewhere south of Austin Texas I saw this. One of our members may live in the area. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image :banana :banana :banana

My former father-in-law had one back in the early '70's.
Too bad he had no clue.

I always wanted one of them. You see, I'm a '56 Nash myself...
Don't think I want it that much though...

Funny thing. I was at a yard sale today & saw a convertiable one of those in the back yard next door to the sale. Bout dropped my jaw. It had some minor surface rust, etc, but was very complete & project like. In my richer days I would have walked over & asked if it might be for sale.

Why you Mutt!

My father also had one...a 1955 convertible. Being a '55, it still actually had the Nash emblem on the front and hubcaps with an "N" rather than an "M". Ours, when shined up, was just about as shiny as the one in the pictures.

I was still small enough when we got it that I could actually fit in the back seat! Dad paid $195 for it from a dealer in 1965, traded it in around 1970 or so for a 1962 Ford Econoline camper conversion. Got $100 in trade. Don't remember it getting anything close to 50 mpg, though...closer to 25, maybe 30 on a really good day.

The car had a long stroke 4 cylinder engine...the cylinders were slightly tapered, causing rings to fail about once a year. He traded it in partly because he really wanted a camper van, and partly because he was tired of doing annual ring jobs.
