I'm looking for help finding an actuator with about a 6 inch stroke. I'm sealing the grill with louvered or shuttered flaps (not sure yet...early design) and I want to be able to open or close them on the fly. I see micro actuators online for about $120+ each! Yikes. I'm looking for about 10% that price. Anyone have any leads? Thanks |

Maybe you could find used ones on craigslist or such sites? I doubt RadioShack will have anything for less. |

I checked eBay...expensive there too. May look at the shack but I was hoping to get a well built one. I realize, well built and cheap are always not in synch with each other. |

Hey Metro Fanatic, you ever see this post?: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/5th-generation-civic-hatchback-improving-aerodynamics-312-10.html This is what I had mentioned at GeoPalooza. It'd be a heck of a lot cheaper! Right now I'm running with a full lower grill block & have the gap between the hood & bumper open. It's doing just fine, but I have a different grill block I'll put on once summer comes back around to open up the A/C & radiator sides. |

Well, I'm eager to see what you come up with then! It'd be really cool if you could design it in such a way that it would automatically open once the car's temp hit a certain number like 212* & shut at 198*. I think the fan kicks on at 212* & shuts off at 198*. I think the car would cool down pretty quickly if this was the case. I have a manual switch to my fan & flip it on while decellerating or sitting at a stop if I feel like it needs to run a little cooler. |
