some people just don't get basic economics, the rest of them want our cars LOL, you're walking home with $900 a month more than he is, because he drives a "manly" car, and he doesn't get it...

thats when you look at them dead serious. Point to your car and say 50 miles per gallon next to nothing to maintain.

Point at them and say how about you?

Then walk away laughing. BOY does it steam them up :-)
Had that same conversation with a co-worker who just bought a very large, very shiny, very expensive crewcab pickup.

Him - "Why do you drive that girly car"
Me - "It takes me back and forth to work and does it very well"
Him - "Yah, but aren't you embarassed to be seen in it"
Me - "Not at all, as a matter of fact I talk to people all the time who rather like the way it looks. And I laugh all the way to the bank."
Him - "I wouldn't be caught dead in that thing. Why don't you drive a real mans' vehicle?"
Me - "Are you using your "real man's" vehicle to haul large loads or tow trailers?
Him - "No."
Me - "So you are just driving back and forth to work and running some errands?"
Him - "Yes"
Me - " Let's compare. How much is your truck payment?"
Him - "$450 a month"
Me - "This car is paid for, 0 payment. How much is your insurance?"
Him - "$150 a month"
Me - "Insurance costs me about $25 a month. How much do you spend on fuel each month?"
Him - "$400 a month in fuel"
Me - "I spend about $80 a month in fuel and I live more than twice as far from work as you do."
Him - "So?"
Me - "So the point is that we are doing the same job (getting to work); you do it for $1,000 and I do it for $105. That is why I drive this car."
Him - "Yah, but why don't you drive a real man's vehicle?"
Me - "<Sigh>

:lol some people are just hard headed

That is Awesome! I am certain my kids will say I already have the expression down and I am in the reading glasses zone so I just need to acquire a black pair and I will be set! As to the $$$ savings; I definitely get it which is why I drive this car.

One time where I was working The bosses exwife came up to see him about something. Her new husband has just bought a New GMC pickup. Damn thing must have had every option you could thing of. He dove up into the yard and a couple of us when out to look at it.. As we were talking he said Quote "You know what people think of when they see this truck? They say, That guy has got some money!!" I had to quickly walk away to keep from laughing the guys face. We used that quote over and over. Some one would just open their lunch and show a sandwich and ask You know what people say when they see this? It was and is very funny :banana :banana a

Well, if I saw someone with a little car loading it down with stuff from costco I would have nice chuckle. I am just happy I am installing a new timing gear and trans this weekend!
I agree Triton, I would have to applaud their effort and chuckle with them. At least say "impressive" or give a head nod or :thumb

We do need pictures of the transaxle or else we will have to continue posting more pics like this...

CLUELESSNESS: There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots.

Well I installed the "new" trans and I am loving it. My car has never rode so smooth. When I started it up and let off the clutch no noise whatsoever! My car is so quiet now, maybe even more so than a prius! (I dont know but it could be close :hmm ). I got some pictures of the old one sitting in the back of my car before I returned it for a core charge. I am loving the little longer gearing. If anything this is how they should be been geared rather than the 4.39. Also I thought you guys would enjoy the bumper stick on my car as well.
