Hey all, I was sadly unable to attend geopalooza west 2010 and was wondering if there is going to be a GPwest 2 in 2011? Anybody planning anything yet?

PM GeminiHeartz. She was our hostess. See if she has anything planned. Camping this year would be cool. Maybe up near Suzanneville. Really pretty area |

Or, see what kind of deals Reno hotels give...Then I could also go to the Western Historic Radio Museum in Virginia City. Too bad Harrah's doesn't have that big car collection any more...that was fun back in the early '70s... |

Everybody went over and checked out what is left of the collection. I remember. It really changed my life seeing all those cool cars. |

Host your own! Find a spot where lots of Geos can gather and take pics and maybe a pavilion or some shelter just in case. Get a few packs of hot dogs and bags of chips and bring your grill. Post a date, time and location on a thread and I will announce it on the web site (that's what I am here for) so people can come. Expect the unexpected. |

I kinda like the idea of Reno, or even better yet, Vegas. Although I'm game for anywhere where hotel/motel rooms are relatively cheap. Either way, I'll have to fix the A/C again before I go... Humboldt County might be nice, but...I gave up smoking that stuff years ago...

Just outside of Mt Shasta is the little town of Weed. Cool place. It is at the base of the Mt. Okay CB. Take the cheap shot. Go ahead. LOL |

hey everyone sorry i havent been on in like forever since i dont have internet at home ...and Murf, i was planning to do something for next year at that lake i told you about just outside of susanville....lake almanor...i love the idea of camping dont think itll sit well again w/ my daughter, lol...since we almost drowned last year learning how to ride a rubbercraft, as i like to put it, being pulled by a boat... ...anywho i doubt most of us will be doing that and mostly chatting it up and doing smores by the fire, heehee... i know the campground i went to last year, it was $18.00 a night last year, it may have gone up, not sure but i thought if we can stay for like 2 days and nights, it would be fun and we'd let our little cars rest, for all who had to come from afar...the lake was so beautiful in august of last year but im sure anytime it is, after it opens... the months that its open are may thru sept....i was thinking possibly for mid to late june since my daughter will be finished w/ school and itll give you guys, who have to work out time-offs and such to have that figured out... everyone talk amongst yrselves about it and ill read yr responses next time i come on, since i do that almost on a daily basis... |

The area Heartz is talking about is really cool. Lots of trees and critters. But the trees here at the coast are taller. LOL Sounds like a good idea. |

Really? A Metro meet only 60 miles from my home (Chico, CA), I'm there! Hell, I drove to Reno, I could do Susanville or Lake Almanor in my sleep. Plus the roads to both locations are 1. very pretty 2. very curvy 3. very curvy. I'm so there! |

Ah, Weed. I passed through there many years ago riding my Yamaha to BC. Great trip, went the whole way from SoCal to BC and back on a little over $30 in gas. (OK, the most expensive gas on that trip was 85 cents a gallon at Big Sur). Back to Geopalooza...Reno (or thereabouts) is probably about the best choice for distance and affordability... |
