Here is some pics of the rust repair I did a few months ago. The car is tight and a much better car to drive now. Maybe it will last a while. I pulled the engine to replace it so I thought it was the perfect time to get in there for the rust repair. Some of my weld look great and some look like . Mostly due to contaminated surfaces. The more I grinded the rust and undercoating the better the welds. I'm not a pro welder but have welded at work and a lot for myself and others.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Old engine/4.39 trans. New engine/4.10 trans. ![]() I didn't rush on anything and just took my time. I had fun! I will next repair the rockers and a hole in the rear wheel well. The rockers can't be too hard to shape but someone had a link to new ones for $79 a pair (I think). After this is done I need to do the same thing to my 98 but don't know if I can do it without pulling engine/trans.

nice work! did you bend the patch piece before, or did you just weld and hammer? |

The metal I used was thick, don't know how thick though. I pre-bent in vise then tacked on one end and hammered while hot. Then tacked and then fully welded. |
