Finally got in a fender bender!; Hood

So, today a female abruptly cut me off on wet pavement. I have tires from December that have half amount of tread on them. I slammed my brakes and my car just skid into the back of her.

She got out and asked "What are you trying to do, kill me?" lol

Hood is a little crunched in and can't get the hood open. I figure, since this is a Metro, I'm going to call junkyards and look for a hood of a different color. Have to replace the latch too. Headlights are a little shifted, but lenses are fine -- not cracked.

So, Honey Mustard (my car's nickname due to her gold color) will look snazzier!

Just sayin'

Women drivers, no survivors! :lol

I'm sorry that happened to you Ryan. You seem to have it under control, insurance involved?

I just have PLPD on the Metro, obviously. My insurance agent told me never put full-coverage on a Metro. Really no damage to her bumper. It was a Cobalt sedan. My insurance is not involved and nor is hers.

Got home and finally got the hood open. That metal piece that runs between the headlamps, where the airbag sensor is located on, is bent a bit. Radiator is fine, although it's not seated like it should be. Coolant recovery tank cap and some of the top is gone now. Headlamps are a little wobbly. I'm just going to do as cheap as I can.

There's one in Jenison, MI (20 min from me) for $90. It's for a 1995 Metro. Will that fit my '98. Also, are the hoods different between hatch and sedan?

I believe 95-01 will fit. I'm not sure about the hatch vs. sedan question. Surely someone on here knows for sure.

That's the nice thing about these cars; they're so interchangeable throughout the years on many parts.

We have more wrecks on this forum than the Mustang forums :shake

We also have worse tires, headlights, and brakes. Most of our wrecks are rear-endings too...or pulling out in front of someone... ;)

Must be a bad day for wrecks. My son called about 7:30 and said he just totaled his 97 Accord VTech Coupe. Nice ride. WAS. Doing about 55 through an intersection & some guy turns left in front of him. He wacked his rear quarter & did a 360 across a couple lanes of traffic. Luckily nobody hit him in the spin. Other driver got a ticket for failure to yield. Air bags deployed, wacked his knee but he's ok, thank God.

PS. Glad you're ok. Sorry about your ride. Wasn't trying to jack your thread either.

Ryan all hoods from 95-2001 sedan or hatch will work. Ebay Has a brand new hood for $159 shipped. Find a junk yard near you or a dealer that deals in new aftermarket parts. A junk yard near me sells new aftermarket parts and I wouldn't have to pay for shipping and it is under $100. Like $86 + tax.

Did the cops get involved? Was she sited? Will she pay your damages or do you have to get bent over on this one?

Good to hear, SuperDuty, regarding the interchangeability.

160 shipped on eBay is not bad at all. A bud and I are going to look at local junkyards here in Grand Rapids later today and see what's up. I think getting a black hood for a car that is gold-colored will be pretty hardcore. :lol

Cops didn't get involved. I got bent over on this one. Oh well.
