Thought I would share my progress since I have been lurking about siphoning knowledge the past few weeks. I purchased a 92 metro a few weeks ago for 300.00, managed to drive it a few blocks home on 2 cylinders. After removing and tearing down the motor, I found number 2 cylinder was somewhat damaged and didn't want to pay to bore it. Located a used motor, complete with all sensors, intake, hoses and even an additional automatic tranny attached for 200. This had all been removed from a running car that was converted to electric, quite a find for me. I have since rebuilt it, and am waiting for the rain to stop so I can install it. Picture of metro and "engine hoist" after I pulled motor. ![]() replacement motor before rebuild ![]() and after the rebuild, waiting for some decent weather.

Welcome. Thank you for the pictures and sharing your adventure with us. Maybe the weather will give you a break soon. That was quite a deal, scoring a complete engine and trans. Keep us updated if you will. Take care and good luck

Sure they could have, but why sweat it when you have a hoist like that around? Nice story and pics

hoist doubles as a crusher if things don't go your way. Thanks for the warm welcome, more repairs and pics to come. |

As much as I want things to go your way, I would not mind seeing a video of it being used as a crusher. Well maybe not on a geo, but more on another car for sure. And Welcome (I forgot to say that in my original post) |

Loving the hoist! Tow thoughts instantly come to mind: 1) Make darn sure everything is disconnected before you lift and 2) Does the hoist fold up for storage in a corner of the shop? Welcome aboard. |
