hey guys... the geo im buying has 175/70(maybe 60 i dont remember haha)/13 on it right now. and is coming with a set of 14" rims that need the tires replaced.. she said she tired them on and they were rubbing up front but not in the back... i couldn't see the tire size on them as it was dark but they looked like they were a 70 series pretty tall.. now when i went home i remembered i have a brand new set of 195/60/14s i took off a car i sold. but i want to make sure i can run them before i pay to have them installed lol is there anyone running this size? i do want to lower it will that effect it?... i have a set of wheel spacers if needed but are the studs long enough? or does anyone know if theres ARP extended studs for theses cars? |

they will fit on the rear and they will fill up the tire well . but the front will be very close , it depends on the actual size of the tire and offset of the wheel there is considerable variation in tire sizes even in the same size i have 185 60 15 in front RE 92 Bridgestone and they fit , but 185 65 15 Nokian Hakapalita does not fit nor does 195 60 15 Bridgestone RE9000 185 65 15 Nokian Hakapalita does fit in the rear and 195 60 15 Bridgestone RE9000 both do fit in the rear . 195 60 14 snow tires that i hold up to the 185 60 15 RE 92 Bridgestone are about the same size OD but the snow tires are a wee bit wider - i will be interested to hear how they do or do not fit on your car |

They're going to be a little tall, but nothing to worry about. 185/60-14 is a fabulous size for a GEN3 car, the same diameter but 30mm wider. Your 195/60-14s are going to be 10mm wider yet and 6mm taller, not that much. The critical thing here is wheel offset, you'll need 40 to 45mm. 195 width is pretty much pushing the limit, there's not much room left for offset variation. Mine are 40mm and the sidewall of the tire that you can see rubbed on the inside edge of the fender on big bumps. I rolled a baseball bat around between the tire and the fender, bending the lip up. Did away with 90% of the rubbing, and my car is lowered. |

I'm running 195-60-14 on my '96 with no trouble at all... the rims are from a mazda and all of the tire is inside the fender... i don't understand all the offset configs but it seems that the mounting surface of that wheel is very near the outside edge. I haven't yet lowered the car but it appears there is room to go down as much as 3" front and maybe 5" in the back. 4.5% speedometer (and mileage) error with this setup |

Probably won't be noticeable in the mileage loss... remember you're losing 4% or so just to tire size. (by losing I mean gaining distance per measure. The handling is far superior... Falken FX1 tires rule. I bet I could break the spindles off before I break traction. Marvelous 96 1.3 Auto |

Yeah the speedo will be off but thats no biggie if you have a GPS. I have been running 185-60-14s for like seven years with no problem. They fit but just barely. I can put two of my fattest ass of fatass friends in the back with no problem at all. I was drifting in the snow two nights ago with four people in the car no problem. Douglas is a pretty good tire, but the tire I have my eyes on are the riken raptor. Its an agressive v tread with a pretty high speed rating and they are Michilen built. I have put them on a few cars in the shop and they stick really really well.

Why is handling a concern when you can't reach 55 MPH? |
