I drove the Old Pilot Bearing out, with the FlyWheel Removed, from the back side. New One can them be pressed in. Or drove in with a socket. Looking Very Nice! A "First Fire"Video would be great!

snowfish i will definitely do a "first start video" cdmccul thanks... i have been waiting years to do something like this..... i just built my garage last year and still not finished with it but it workable.. i have it covered with house wrap but still need a man door and garage door, concreate ect ect ect ![]() so i think it might be easier to take off the flywheel to do the pilot bearing... what about the bearing in the transmission i'm still wondering how to get that one changed

If you mean the Throw Out Bearing, that's not too bad. It just kind of twists, rotates, and tickles it's way over the shaft and into the fork holders. Maybe there's any easy way. I just haven't found it yet. The fork has to move as you're fiddling with it. Just have to find the sweet spot and it slides off & on. If it's a transmission bearing, in the transmission it's self, well, that's unexplored waters for this kid. Bogs, I may have the exhaust pointed in the wrong direction. Ya think?

Great Job! Feels good to be on the road, eh? You'll feel the difference, even more, once your cam sprocket is dialed in!

well if she ran like this all the time i would be happy......the idle goes up to about 1500 when i start to drive it snowfish....what do you have your timing set to? did you have to mess with your tps? i am still trying to get mine set just right... my first tank i got 39.9 mpg... i know she can do better if she idle the same all the time... maybe i have a bad tps

Sounds like it's running really nice! Congrats! It's normal for the idle to "hang" and then settle down when you come to a stop. When fully warmed up, mine will take maybe 5-10 seconds to "settle in" when stopping at a light. That's just the IAC & VSS doing it's job. My timing is at 18 BTDC for now. I'm waiting until the weather warms up to take it to full advance. Then back off, a tad, if it starts to ping.I did adjust my TPS many times before I figured out that the IAC was shot. No worries. At least we know it's set to spec now. I think 40mpg is pretty darn good for a fresh build and running in cold weather.

ok, on my 94 i never new there was a buzzer when you started the car it just started to do it one day.... then it dont.... it works when it wants to..... so my son has been driving it to work the last few days and this morning he calls me and said the check engine light came on and when he parked it... turned the key off... there was a buzzer going off and he didnt know how to turn it off.... the key was out of ignition so what finally turned it off was the light switch.... he turned it to off and the buzzer stoped dont know whats up with that but he did say it was still running great and its up to 44mpg now.... i will have to check the code when i get home... anyone ever deal with the buzzer issue? my son drives farther to work then i do and he drives a 1984 ford ranger and it gets like 14 mpg ...... so guess what..... he bought a metro..... a 1996 ![]() ![]() ![]() it need a motor mount and i did a compression test last night and it was .. 180 50 180 he paid $600 for it |

Congrats! Second build will be much easier, now that you're over the learning curve! Maybe even just a weekender to get her freshen up. No artwork or course. Well, maybe a little.
