The car is a 94 metro with a 1.0 and automatic. It will not shift on its own. If i put it in drive it starts off in 3rd gear. If i shift it manually it works fine. Already replaced transmission control module and neutral switch. TPS is good. Any ideas of what else to check. Thanks alot. |

Shift solenoids are probably stuck. How does the ATF look and smell? If dark/burnt change fluid and filter. Try sea foam for transmission treatment. If solenoids don't click and have travel when 12v is applied, need to be replaced. Good luck! And welcome to the forum! |

Ok, checked the power to the solenoids today, from what i understand I should have 12v to each and it should drop off to 0 at a certain speed depending on which solenoid it is. I drove all the way to 45 mph and both of them stayed at 12v. could this be a problem with the tcm. Im not sure what year the one i got came from. Numbers on it are 38880-51G10 and 86410-2770. Anyone know of anywhere to find interchange info? |

Wiring gets brittle with age and has many broken strands that you cannot see. Mine was acting up and I redid the harness on top of the tranny and it has been fine ever since. |
