I'm with Potter. You can have that stuff. Always said I'd rather have sweat drippin' off my nose than havin' an icesicel hangin' off of it. I hate cold weather.

Jealous, it was 70 degrees here in Denver today. We haven't gotten any snow in town yet this year but the mountains have been getting pounded - it's almost boarding time woo!

As tires go, in Idaho you get to use studded snow tires, which is what my Metro came with. :-/

To avoid the $40 charge for swapping tires I have two sets of tires and do it myself; summer/winter. However :lol since I don't really do winter "sports" ...for my winter sport, I only install the studded tires on the front, ie drive axles. That way I can use my e-brake for drifting practice without wearing out a set of tires. :D :rocker

Central Idaho is having one more nice 60ish day tomorrow and it should plummet on Monday.

Good winter tires are non-existent for the Metro in Michigan. Just go with the all-season.
Plenty of good winter tires are available for the GEN3 cars. Falken Hankook Yokohama Continental Dunlop Michelin Firestone General all have 175/70-13 winters, Firestone Pirelli and Yokohama even have 155/80-13.

I've got a set of studded 12'' tires that I put on for the winter but I'm going to look at a set of 13'' studded ones today that they want $40 for. As far as liking winter. Bring it on, the snowier the better. I run a tandem axle snowplow and lots of snow means overtime to help pay for my biggest passion''snowmobiling''. I've got a 4 stroke sled that is the same size as a Metro engine that has a turbo and puts out about 300 hp. Great fun! Ken.......

Not at tire retailers here. I could order them online, yes, but not going to.

Plus, it's a Metro; I'm not spending more money on tires.

Ryan,

I have two Metros and have two full sets of 13" rims with Firestone Winterforce 155/80-13 snow tires. If you like the way your Metro drives in the snow with standard tires, and if you plan to stay in Michigan for a few years.... you owe it to yourself get a set of Winterforce tires for your Metro. I run mine only during snow seasons and judging from the negligible tread wear on them, I'd guess they will have full utility as snow tires for at least 4 winters and probably 5. So you can "amortize" the investment in rims, tires and mounting/balancing costs over several seasons.

By the way, I love that sign in your Michigan beach picture! Does that mean a bunch of Moscovites moved immigrated to your neaighborhood?
