It's getting there. I guess I am officially hooked. After rowing gears all week, my favorite thing to do to relax is ease out into the garage, plug up the Android and turn on Pandora to some John Hooker "Boom Boom" radio and commence ta wrenchin' and fixin'. Along the way, I'll tear up some stuff and get to fix it again. But it's all in a good time.

***I cannot edit the title so I'll make this note here. Posts 19 through 25 have the detailed steering wheel install information.

I'm gonna try a Photobucket copy and paste for an album to various images along the way with this little white car I found. I hope it's not too much for dial-ups if there be any around here. I'm trying to get clickable thumbnails and made this album public so it can be found hopefully. Hope the pics are right size. I tried to include some text with each image that may reveal some of the progress from begin to it's current stage. I'll do it in several posts. Anyway...here goes:

EDIT: Clickable links work apparently but there is no text. Here is a link to the album on Photobucket for each images description and text if anyone's interested:

This project is a '92 4 door hatchback...or is it called a 5 door hatch...or maybe a wagon?? I initially dubbed her "GOLDIE", named for the nice old lady that owned her previously, but now I'm thinking her handle is gonna be "3 FITTY" cause that's what $ I laid on Ms. Goldie to bring her home. 3 FITTY wasn't in running condition and I found her on Craigslist the night before I was making a trip into the ports around Baltimore putting some export cars onto a ship destined for Africa. Didn't go out of my way a bit...unloaded a car and ran by to look at her and Goldie's grandson helped me roll her down the street and onto the trailer.

Photobucket Album With Description

She looked pretty sad with flat tires and the little space-saver spare (half flat too). She was sitting under a lone tree in the fenced in backyard (or sandlot) when I first saw her. The outstanding condition of the sheet metal and the undercarriage was what caught my eye. Then I looked for all the pieces and parts...making sure they were there. The interior was pretty dirty but not torn. I saw potential.

Here are some shots of the car underneath. Frame horns are solid. Rockers are also. Rubber boots intact and the rubber still pliable.

I recently got into replacing wearables. The car was sitting for a few years I was told when I bought it. They could not get it running. Inspecting the gas tank revealed why. In addition to the stale gas, there was other sediment/stuff in there...completely beyond cleaning so I went on the hunt for a tank. Found one from a convertible at a salvage yard nearby and installed it.

In this shot, I fabbed a brake hose lock mount for the right front side due to a brake hose that was stretched too tight, in my opinion. The brake hose lock from the factory was gone and I think maybe the problem was the brake hose length. I ordered new brake hoses and when they arrived, they were the exact same length which I was not comfortable with. The driver's side was fine but on the passenger side, I made a bracket and re-mounted the holder assembly with a new lock. Looks much better now and no worry about a hose getting pulled and rubbed.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Bad...if you're referring to my wood wheel, it's due in today or tomorrow and I'll have a look at it when I herd this Pete back to the home 20 Friday. Reviews on the company and the product were outstanding and I was looking for something out of the norm. I've read on other forums about dislike for wooden wheels but I'm the odd man out anyway cuz I don't mind the auto trans after a week of east coast traffic with this 18 speed. If I had my druthers I'd go for a 5 speed in the G10 but it ain't a deal breaker for me.

If you're shopping for one of these wheels... foreversharp.com and enter FBLike11 in the promo code box for 11% off. I always Google for discount codes before ordering online and sure enough...there it was...an 11% discount just for clickin'. :thumb
