The Amish and rust

I was less than a mile from my house today. I was only going 35-40 when an Amish buggy pulled out from a driveway right in front of me. I have almost all Amish neighbors and they pull out without looking all the time. I was in my Red 98 that needed some rust repair on the frame. I don't drive it to far in it's present condition. Anyways I hit the brakes pretty hard. They locked up and skidded for a good 100 ft. When I let off the brake and it was still squealing and headed in a different direction I knew something was wrong. Nobody got hurt and when I got out one tire was straight and the other was pointed in another direction. I tried to go forward and just heard a loud clicking sound. I could back up without it clicking. I got it home though. I'm going to try a ratchet strap to pull the frame back together so I can get it to the shop to weld it.

Question 1) is the clicking sound made by the cv shaft pulling apart? It didn't pull out of the trans and it can't pull out of the hub.
2) Do you think it did any damage to the shaft?

It sounds like you may have pulled the shaft out of the cup. The only way to see if you have dammage is to remove the boot and take a look.

Except for the frame issue, you probably didn't do any permanent damage.
Sorry for the Amish folk though.
They don't have that issue, you ever see a rusty horse?

Ha, that's funny.

Johnny, yea luckily I was going slow enough and nobody was hurt. I think the Amish women in the buggy had to go clean out their underwear though!
