I just finished a 2800+ mile road trip. Over huge Mts, and I state driving. 75mph+. And used only 58 gals. Makes me feel great. I could not have driven my old Ford PU to Reno for that.

It's more fun when you pull out your log book that tracks your mileage, total cash and gallons of gas saved over a 20 MPG car. ...At 21,091 miles logged so far (since I bought my Geo last April) I've saved over $1700 in gas and over twice my Geo's weight in fuel (over 600 gallons).
A good calculator for this can be found at Gas Mileage Comparison Calculator. It says "Your yearly fuel savings in 5 years would be: $8642.85" That's at $3 and it calculates for $4 and $5.

How do you manage to get 48 MPG @ 75+ MPH when I get like 30 MPG?

Pretty cool calculator. With my log book I calculate the actual savings for every fill-up at the price I pay at the gas station. I'll take a picture and post it up shortly.

I read that as a 2800 mile trip on interstates, including some mountains and some 75 mph running. Plus, he's driving a MK3 car with mods.

Then again, you should never get 30, no matter what you do, something is wrong there.

I used to get around 33 MPG in my 94. Then again, I did a lot of city driving and drove it very hard (I drove it like I would a race car). I once got 48 MPG though, proof that my mileage was all in the driver.

Yeah, I guess we need to put this 25 or so year old Epidemic Disease Fad (aka Geo Bashing) to Rest. Six Feet Under. Yep, I agree, don't y'all think?

I bring ya'll a gift, an excel spreadsheet for FE calculations and comparison calculations based on what you pay every time at the pump. Here's a link to my thread, shoot me an e-mail if you want a copy.

Good bye

I work for the local power company, the parking lot is full of nice new 4x4 pickups. I love it when one of the guys comes and asks about my little car. Friday one guy asked and I turned him on to a 93 Xfi that I know about here in town for sale. We have four Metros in my family, one in Washington, one in Kansas and two here in Oregon. All cars came from here so no rust :)
