Wow, I can't answer that question because I am slow so my 3 day project to replace the heater core on the '96 won't help. I did not remove or lower the steering wheel because the "torx" bolts have to be torqued to over 100 f.t lbs. or they used a thread sealant. So remove the seats to save you back (somewhat) and drop the steering column first, IMHO. Then the center console was removed. I put the various screws and bolts in a cup cake cooking pan or two. This dash has bolts on the left and matching on the right. I started with the right (easier to get to). There was on in the center near the windshield. IIRC. I only pulled mine out about 8-10 inches so I could get the heater out. My headlamp was a lot of help in freeing up my hands and giving plenty of light. Good luck with the driver's side, I didn't need to remove it and it's various electrical connections. The '96 dash exploded view.
