Hey guys. i'm stumped and I have to have this done in a few hours. I got it all apart no problem but now I cant get the old bearings out. They are bad, but not quite "gone" enough to just fall out. Ive been trying to use a screw driver to pry them out but its not working. |

There are a few threads on here that describe and show how to remove the bearings. You can't pry them out, you have to use a punch and drive them out. Between the bearings is a spacer. Use something to move it to the side so you can get your punch on the backside of one of the bearings. Keep moving the spacer around so you can tap the bearing out evenly. After you're done, make sure you didn't raise any burrs on the ends of the spacer. If you did, very carefully file the burr down. |

A chisel would work. Punch would be better. Just try not to nick up anything but the bearings themselves. |

They wont budge. Should I use heat or something? I read online you could throw them in the freezer. Maybe drill them out? |

well I might have to just throw it back on and grease it up as much as I can and hope for the best until I can get to the shop. They are just really stuck in there. Ive tried heat and using 2 hammers at once, but they just arnt very heavy. I'll try a sledge tomorrow. |

Got it put back together and used a lot of grease so it should hold for another day. The drive axels and hubs arnt beaten up at all so they should be ok for a little longer. Its annoying to hear it on the hwy. |

If you have the style of front hubs with the rotor behind the lug nuts, (non vented rotor) You will need to drive each one out from the inside of the knuckle. No need to remove the knuckle from the car. After you have removed the hub, (center piece with the rotor and lug studs) and axle, you just put you big punch in the knuckle and push the inner bearing toward the inside and the outer bearing to the outside. Then just drive the new bearings in. You may have a bearing race stuck on the hub. This can be removed with heat or a big hammer and chisel. Place the chisel crosswise on the race and smack it with the hammer until it cracks. Once it cracks it will fall off. If it won't fall off it will only take a little effort to push it off with the chisel and hammer. |
