Good idea Bryan. I always like to scare critters away from traffic and cars. Hoping they learn. Around here we have a herd or two that roam town around this time of year and there are always the foxes. Smart critters, eh.

No "Antlered Deer" wanted to come out and play today, we tried to drive them out but to no avail... thats why i would like to hunt them with dogs but VA wont allow it. only dog game here is black bear, and Racoon... ticks me off. but hey its whatever, it was a good day to see what all was up their, we got TONS of Does, 3 of them are older and large bodiied so they should make some good eating. Yall have fun, be safe. |

Good luck, be careful, and make sure you are using a firearm (or bow and arrow) rather than the car to bag your deer! The book "Small Wonder", the story of the development of the VW has a section on the prototype cars. Apparently, a couple of the engineers were testing out a prototype in the Black Forest one day when a deer jumped out in front of them. There was naught they could do but hit it. Car was damaged, but driveable. If memory serves, there was a photo of the guys, after they returned, banged up car, deer lashed to the top. At least they had some good eatin' out of the incident... |

Funny you should talk about the VW incident. In the late 60's mt dad was driving his VW bug through the mountains near the house when a Buck rammed the car from the side. Broke off one side of his antlers as they got stuck in the door's sheet metal. Dad went to the ranger station and reported the incident, They searched for the Buck for a few hours, thinking he may be truly in pain, but never found him. Dad had the antler mounted, but I haven't seen it for a long time. I think My brother took it to have a "Big Buck Bass" made. |

Last time I went hunting I got shot by G.H.W. Bush. We had an incident here a couple years ago. In Isle of Wight County, shortly after the season opened, A lady was driving her brown, old, Honda Civic through the woods on highway 258. It was near dusk. Her car got shot from the woods. No one was hurt, but, she was pretty shaken up by it. I do not believe the authorities ever found the hunter who mistook her small brown car for a deer. |

My dad's hunting claim to fame is, "My dad couldn't kill a deer with a damn rifle, I killed 2 on the way home from hunting with the Bronco." Him and his dad went hunting, his dad didn't kill anything, he only shot once and missed. On the drive home he saw a deer and jokingly told his dad he was going to hit it...another two were coming from the other side of the road. He killed both of them and didn't even mess the Bronco up. hahaha |
