For all of the members that do not have a garage or a good place to work I would like to say that I really respect what you do. It has been a long time since I have not had a shop to work in. Sometimes I tend to forget about only having one car and the parts store is many miles away. It is a real challenge to work on a automobile in the best of conditions. Some of the repairs and conditions you do it in are amazing. It makes me very proud to know people who can take the initiative to make things happen. This a good place, thanks for letting me hang around. :thumb :thumb :thumb

I just came in from the backyard where I was working in the dark (+flashlight) and occasional blowing, falling snow.....reconnecting the various cables and such to the 'new' tranny in the Swift. The first post I saw was this one on respect. I thought it was going to be a reminder for everyone on the forum to respect others when posting. I was touched to see your what you wrote.
On behalf of those of us who are working in these conditions, Posted Image

Just for that I'm sure you have gained much respect by everyone including myself :) (not that no one respects you now lol)

I know just how it is to work without a garage, I have a 2 car garage here at home but no room to fit a car so all my work is done in the drive way and in the street. I've been from replacing a transmission in 110 degree weather to sitting in a car with no seats running wires for a car stereo in a down pour. (ruined a brand new pair of converse high tops doing that job :() Some times having to make due with the tools at hand. I hope one day I have a garage with a full set of tools..

I understand. When we moved to the mountains we had the Dirty White Van and a VW Camper van and no garage for the first 2 years. We got an open car port for two years. Then a 2 wall carport with an attached shop, The last two years has been a drafty but full 2 car garage with a shop. So yeah, I have felt the pain.

However, all my modifications and engine installing, and major work was already done before I got the 2 car garage. :banghead

ahh yes I am greatfull to have my garage but when we did the engine swap in Sophia back in 07 their was no garage, it was december, their was snow, and the cherry picker we used had knobbys on it, did it all outside.

changed my first Head gasket, middle of summer, 90 deg, in my appt parking lot in 08, now i have a garage, no heat, no A/C but its out of the rain, snow and sun. but ive been their before. and i gotta give it up to yall that do what you do and dont have a garage
