Hey Jim-Bob & Welcome. I found a white '92 model like yours 'cept mine has a couple extra doors. :-) And that's exactly what I gave for mine too. It's a project that is fast approaching completion. It's over at the Little White Limo thread here in the Projects. You'll get a lot of help here on GMF & sometimes all you have to do is just think about it & it magically appears in a post. Don't ask me how they do it.

Big time saver I've learned in my multiple experiences on jury duty is, if they get the guy to that point, he's probably guilty. |

It's a 3/8 hose that runs from the top of the brake booster ( located directly behind the master cylinder) to a small hard line on the firewall to a rearward-pointing port on the intake manifold that is below the throttle body and on the passenger's side. Also, see my response to your other thread about driveability issues. |

Here are some pictures and details of what I have been doing over the past 2 days. As I don't have any parts as of yet and likely won't for another week, my attention has been turned to cleaning up the interior as best I can. It seems that the "little old lady from Port Richey" who supposedly owned it last has a cat or dog with white fur that goes damn near everywhere with her. A such, I now have the joy of trying to take the hair out of the seats and carpet. Yay. So far, I have taken out the seats, console and carpet and cleaned the interior panels with Simple Green to remove years of accumulated dirt and stink. Luckily the car seems to have been owned by a non smoker as it doesn't smell like an ash tray nor does it have a ton of cigarette burns. I also used rubbing compound on all the white painted surfaces to take out minor scratches from the finish and make the B and C pillars look like new. I did buy one thing for the car though, a factory service manual off E-bay for $27 with shipping. It will get here in the next 9 days ( I didn't want to pay for faster shipping), just in time to start working on the mechanicals in earnest. Anyhow, without further ado, here are today's pictures!![]() Here are the seats as they came out of the car. They were covered with pet hair and the remains of the gorilla fur seat covers that were on the car when I got it. Removing them and pitching them in the trash was the first thing I did when I got the car. The driver's seat looks like Frankenstein where the previous owner sewed the edge back together. If I can, I will replace this seat's padding and upholstery with those of a good condition passenger's seat yet to be found in a junkyard. As the pieces are interchangeable, I now have a chance at getting a mint driver's seat for little cash. Note the 2 black spots on the passenger's seat bottom? They turned out to be ink and caused a problem you will see in another picture. ![]() A clean, rust and damage free floor is a thing of beauty isn't it? ![]() The back of the carpet doesn't look that bad in this picture does it? However, after applying a bit of Simple Green, some water and a bit of scrubbing: ![]() This brown water is what greeted me when I went to hose it out. Whatever the brown crap was, it took a few minutes for it to all flush out. ![]() The same area after cleaning. I don't know what the black spots are, but they hide under the floor mats so I am not that concerned. However, I am wondering if the carpet from a 95-2001 Metro is the same as the earlier cars in case I find a nicer piece in my junkyard travels. I figure the newer cars are more likely to have a serviceable section than the earlier ones. ![]() The ink stain from hell! The Simple Green emulsified it and made it spread on my otherwise mint passenger's seat. Tomorrow I plan to go to my parent's house to get some Oxy Clean and see if Billy Mays was full of crap or if that stuff really does take out ink stains from fabrics. Tomorrow I am going to see if the lint brush I bought tonight will take the damn pet hair out of the seats and carpet. A little I could let go, but this car had a bit too much. Normally, scrubbing, flushing with water and using a shop vac is enough to remove something like this, but it didn't get it all. I also plan to pull the driver's door apart and fix the window track. The window does not like to roll up and down freely, so I figure there is a problem with the track or mechanism. Thus, even though I am not putting money into parts as of yet, I am still moving forward on making the car better. Edited by Jim-Bob, Nov 20 2010, 02:30 AM.

A clean, rust free floor is indeed a thing of beauty, and something I thought was only found here in California! Was that a trick of the light, or did one of those earlier pictures show a TAN interior? (I've only seen blue or gray...) Good luck to you... |

The tan may have been the dirt I was cleaning out. It's always been gray, at least for the three days I have owned the car! |

Just thinking out loud... The carpet is putting me in a bit of a quandary right now. I can't get all the hair out of it, so do I hunt down a good one in a donor car or spend real money for a new one for a car that as of now is inoperable? Sometimes I hate being such a perfectionist, especially in a car that is destined to see commercial use. I just hate driving junk. I already find myself wanting to strip and paint it as well as trying to figure out what wheels would work best for the least amount of money. I kinda want moon discs if I go for hubcaps, but I know I will lose them because of how aggressively I attack corners. I also decided that when I go to 13's I am using 175 70 R13's instead of 155 80's. I had that size on my last Sentra and that car handled pretty well with no more than the addition of a sway bar. It is your level of perfectionism that you will have to live with. The Moon Disk hubcaps from www.hubcapmike.com will cost $99 in 12" and $89 in 13" plus shipping. They can be made from pizza pans. The paint can be Rustoleum out of a gallon can. Click Rustoleum Paint Job. |

New carpet prices got you down bunky? You say you want new carpet looks and don't want to pay for new carpets?? Don't want to settle for more of the same old same old? Well have I got 2 threads for YOU !....! 1 way to tackle it was presented by our own illustrious (and generous) Will right -> here <- and a 2nd way to tackle it was done by the newly moderated KY in his project thread starting at -> Post #38 <-. Both are ways to get dynomite results with little cash outlay, and how *custom* you get with the carpet relies solely on you
