Fastest Hampster EVER

$16k-$20k for 40 MPG? No way I would EVER buy one. Why can the europeans get 60mpg's and we get stuck with 40mpg's? The game is rigged and it is always rigged against Americans.

Some young start up company could get a franchise from the europeans and make a car which gets 60mpg's and sell it for $5k and that company would make a fortune. Especially when the price of gas gets to $6 per gallon. Why wouldn't a company do that?

Why you ask? Because Americans historically "shun" high mileage vehicles. The standard American thinking is if it gets good mileage, it must be tiny, uncomfortable, cheeply built, and underpowered. Look out our cars of choice, the metro. What is the perception of it by the average American? Gutless? Unsafe? Rattle trap? P.O.S.? While the rest of the world was striving for better mileage cars, the u.s. bought more p.o.s. :shit SUV's than any other type vehicle. Why? Because it has lots of cup holders! :banghead Car manufacturers know that if they offer a car that gets 50-60 mpg it'll do good in California, and the Seattle area, and thats about it. If they market a car that gets 30-40ish they'll attract people who are more on the fence so to speak. Its all about sales numbers. ^o) If Americans would buy the high mileage European cars you can bet they would sell them here.

Also we pay at the pump roughly 1/3rd what they do in Europe (thank GOODNESS). $4. a gallon? Many Europeans would kill for that kind of pricing. I don't envy them at all.
