in the case of four cylinder metros the 98 and up are much better i have both and the 16valve has the 8 valve beat in anyway you want to compare them. so i would keep looking 3800 as others have said is nuts..

I just posted the craigslist ad which shows pictures. Okay, so it's not worth $3800, but
I have a very hard time believing that it's not worth significantly more than $2000, as the
general consensus here seems to indicate.

5speed, ultimately its worth whatever you (or someone else) is willing to pay for it. Keep in mind whenever you see what people are willing to pay around here (the forums), that they live in other parts of the country very often and a lot of times that dictates price.

I never payed more than 2k for any vehicle I own, but I am one rat dirt cheap sob. The outside of that car looks pretty clean, up here in the new england area though it would still not be worth $3800. to *me*. Again, though, go with what you think is fair, I paid 1k for mine and its not nearly as nice looking as that one.

Bogs nailed it.

I'd offer what you're willing to pay, and see what happens.

Its a nice car, but for that price you might as well jump on a plane and come to st. louis and get one in the same condition for half that price....(actually go somewhere else because of bad rust issues here)

Look closely at the pictures of the body and you will see that it is far from straight. The passenger's side has a nice dent on the door and quarter and the other side is riddled with small imperfections. It looks like it went to Maaco for a $200 paint job special to try and make it look better than it really is. I saw cars in similar or better condition today when I went junkyard shopping, so they aren't that rare.

So, someone assembled the engine on a pair of sawhorses in their backyard. In their dusty dirty back yard where anything could have, and probably did, get into the bearings. The price of that car just went down to 1000 or less....dashboard cancer and stained carpet and all.

Run away, dude. This guy is a hustler and he's looking for a sucker.

Thanks for all the advice. I've decided against it.
