Woot! She was running good tonight. That's not the tank average but a 20 minuet trip going 35-55. The car is still all stock with low compression on two cylnders! These cars are great... B-)

Doesn't count! I've gotten 400MPG coasting on the freeway in neutral going down Conejo Grade for 2-3 mins but I'm not going to write about it.

Sorry Dan, didn't mean it to come out mean.
What has your tank average been? There's sections of my commute where my instantanenous MPG is quite high for miles and miles, but overall if I don't baby it, I get 46 - 48MPG'ish. Milk it and my best tank was 53.8MPG.

Well, Dan-o, thats great.! Now for the bad news. You had a short road trip that got exceptional mileage. We all have had these "Wow!"trips, but, alas, they are short trip driving, and nothing more. At the end of the tank, when all things are combined, don't be too surprised when your mpg falls back to what it was. After all, nothing you did was a dramatic change from your last tank correct?Don't it suck when someone comes along to bust your bubble?

I make this trip a few times a week and never get that kind of FE. It is almost all city driving and not much coasting. You guys are right, my tank average is nothing to brag about but I am still impressed. The colder weather has hurt but I am still getting 47-48. Best tank was 54. Hey, I still a Metro newbe!

Sorry again for my negative post.
FWIW, my current tank of gas - my mileage sucks. Had to go out to a customer's facility to drop off product yesterday morning - hilly and freeway speeds. Today did some city driving AND very short freeway driving consisting of just accelerating and decelerating quickly. Averaging 40.5MPG right now. Still better than most other cars on the road.
