Auto Club Southern California...about 900/year, two drivers, two cars ('91 Geo and '83 Cad Eldo). Once I get the Eldo running again and get an engine into a Windstar sitting in the middle of the front lawn, I'm considering looking into some sort of vintage car coverage for the Cad...will be saving it just for special occasions... |

I have been with State Farm since I started driving, almost 20 years ago. when I bought the Geo the wanted to charge me 1600 bucks a year for basic liability. I also have a perfect record. Last speeding ticket was about 12 years ago. I went with some no name company that had all the same coverages as State Farm for 450 dollars a year. It DOES pay to shop around these days. As long as the coverage is what you want, and you do your homework, you can save A Lot of money EDIT: I did get pulled over this past summer for doing 78 in a 45. About the time the cop was just getting into yelling at me pretty good for driving like an idiot, he got another call. He threw my license and registration at me and told me "today is your lucky day" and literally ran back to his car and sped off lights and siren a blazin'. If I hadn't been in such a daze from that event, I would have realized that I was on a lucky streak and bought a lotto ticket! Edited by Spock, Nov 25 2010, 09:20 AM.

Progressive is very Geo Metro friendly. I pay only $31. and some change every month, around $190 or so give or take for 6 months. But my opinion is this: If you really want to save, You Really need to Lose that P.O.S. Pickup or SUV and just have the Geo Metro ONLY. It makes no difference what insurer you have it all boils down to what you have. Also, area matters. I live in the WORST place to drive a motor vehicle and it still amazes me that I have a low rate. (for Now.) Boy, I sure don't miss that '04 Toyota Celica GT-S!! That was so Ever a Losing Battle I was Fighting. There was No Way that I was gonna win. The $350.00 every month for Insurance and the $600.00 per month Car Payment, this is why I drive a Geo Metro. All those Geo Bashers, they all can go Straight to Hell!!! |

I have home and car insurance with The Hartford. I find the quality of claims handling far better than most of the other “branded” companies. Switching to The Hartford saved me over $475. It pays to shop around for car insurance quotes every few years. |
