That's lovely, bet it goes for a fortune.

Not the first year at all, but who cares? The truly rare thing is that it has all the buttons! You never see that.

I don't understand why XFi's reach such stupid high prices. The NICEST Geo Metro is STILL a Metro. I will still wish good luck to the seller!

its a matter of prestige. why does the "special" edition of anything go for more money.?? because its SPECIAL. because its RARE because its COVETED and DESIRED.

well the XFI is the gold plated diamond encrusted limited to 100 run numbered special edition metro so to speak of Geo Metro's and MPG' Envy in general. there is perceived "status" and "prestige" to having an XFI.

and in this case it really does "perform" a stock XFI will always trounce a stock any other metro in MPG's with the same course and same driver.

yes very much so. but in this case you essentially asked a question.

"I don't understand why XFi's reach such stupid high prices"

I simply satisfied the unasked question by explaining WHY they reach such stupid high prices :-)

the same reason people want the "special edition" of anything :-)

I should have said

I don't understand why XFi's reach such stupid high prices, when the base model can be made to achieve the comparable MPGs with <100 dollars worth of parts.

You can get the ECU and CAM and Transmission for under $100 ??

and even if you CAN its still not the "same thing"

ECU is all but worthless, cam isn't but a couple MPGs, in the city, and the transmission is 13" tires.

so what kind of fuel economy numbers are you getting Coche? you hitting 58+ mpg?

My summer average is a solid 54mpg and thats on E10 with twice rated load on the vehicle and a trailer.

If someone wants a really nice XFI, I say that one would be worth it. Its "purdy". You can make a stock metro get great mileage, but with an XFI as a starting point, you can get some really great numbers. Its only worth what people are willing to pay, and this looks to be a prime example.

Forgot His Manpurse

Even if you manage to get an XFI for $2,500, it is still amazing compared to any other modern car. What really counts is the bottom line cost invested in the end.

XFI: $2,500
Mods: ~$500
Future Maintenance Costs: Small
MPG: 60+ MPG

Modern Car: $15,000+
Mods: $0
Future Maintenance Costs: High
Gas: 35~ MPG

The lifetime costs of owning an XFI is so low that it's like owning a toy. Investing in an XFI is really a bargain.

I get 58+ when driving 55mph or so for an extended period of time, and that's with a weak engine and bad timing.

My summer average is 46mpg driven at 70mph for a good bit of the time.
