I agree. The caliper slide pins could be frozen or maybe the pads are stuck in the perches needing cleaned and lubed up. |

also check your tires. if there not the greatest a little slick or out of alignment so less rubber touches the road they could "simply" be locking up. IE the friction of the brakes being greater than the friction of tire to road. I noticed many times during "hard" stops my brakes will lock up for a second and I slide when my front tires hit "painted lines" since they are more slippery. |

hard to say i use an infared temp probe to squirt the rotors through the openings in the wheels to see which brake is locking up is it one or two or all four you can use the BACK of your fingers on a suspected wheel after enough driving to heat up the offending rotor / drum temperature can exceed 300f . which will remove fingerprints . quickly . i have found the problems to be mostly related to; pads frozen in the pad mounting area due to rust frozen brake caliper slides brake hoses the let fluid pass under pressure but not return to the master cylinder a single frozen cylinder in a wheel cylinder or improperly adjusted linkage between brake pedal / booster and master cylinder oil / water in the brake fluid in descending order of probability =================================== the NEW parts that you replaced may be defective NEW means Never Ever Worked . Define ' locking up'. Under what circumstances? Edited by JellyBeanDriver, Nov 26 2010, 10:10 AM.

hmmm good point JBD to me locking up is literally locking up. wheels stop turning your "sliding" or "skidding" I guess it would be good to know what he means by locking up :-) |
