Lil red metro

Taking a long road trip in my little red faithful today. Wish me luck everyone. Going from Altoona, PA to Augusta, GA to visit my three little kids. Trip is 650 miles each way. I will use this opportunity to keep track of my fuel economy. Something I haven't done yet since I got the car 5 months ago. :coffee :drivin

I made it to Augusta with no problems whatsoever. With myself, a passenger, and luggage, etc., I only averaged 44 mpgs. I'm slightly disappointed, but I should consider all the hills I climbed and the fact that I'm an aggressive driver and maintained between 65 and 70 all the way, and not the eco friendly 55 - 60. Plus I don’t do the pulse and glide thing either. I'll update my mpg's on the return trip on Sunday. I expect much heavier traffic then also.

Slower traffic works in favor for you. This is your opportunity to pulse and glide as much as you need.

But still, 44 MPG while going up to 70 MPH? That is incredible. I do not get anywhere close to that in my automatic 1.3L Geo Metro going at 65-70 MPH: 32 MPG.

That is actually pretty good for a loaded car and high speeds and climbing hills. Drop to 55 and watch it go up.

The kids were very excited to see me and have grown much bigger. Today they get pictures done at Wal-Mart and unwrap gifts early this year.

I made a similar trip, going to Geopalooza. I got 48mpg in a near empty 93 driving 72 most the way.
