alright guys I'm not gonna be buying any time soon, just saw a 90 crx hf and it looked nice. So without references to the body of either car what do you guys would think would be better? I know soon I will have to fix the frame rust on my geo, its banged up and it has 180k. The crx I saw has only 20k on the motor. does the hf have frame rust issues like the geo? and is the mpg the same as a 96 3 cyl 5 spd metro? I personally like the hondas better because of them having a bit more power but what do you guys think the them? The bad, the ugly just trying to compare the 2. |

Assuming the engine hasn't been swapped for a different, faster engine, as must owners of these CRXers do, you're looking at 49/52/50 with the old EPA vs 44/49/46 with your Metro. As long as the CRX is stock, it would be better for fuel economy & it's got a larger engine, but only a 2 seater if that's an issue for you. I don't think the CRX's have frame rust, but do get rear wheel well rust. I looked around for one while I shopped for a fuel efficient car, but it seemed impossible to find one that was still stock and they were a bit pricier than the Metro. |

Well, from FE.gov here is the tale of the tape as it were: ![]() I'm not sure why the 2 crx's have different mpg ratings, they were both 5 speeds? ![]() As far as the good, bad, and ugly go, I know even less about Honda vehicles than I do about Metros, I've never owned one. If this is the zippy looking hatchback I think I remember seeing I did get a ride in one once. It seemed to do ok, I remember thinking the back was a little tough to see out of. I don't recall it feeling like it had a lot of power but then, I wasn't driving.

yea this one has the stock motor and has no rust on the quarters. They usually do have bad rust on the quarters, but I would rather have that rust through then the frame. and as for a 2 seater, thats pretty much what I use my geo as |

My nephew had a crx and the rear track bar ripped out a large hole in the bottom of the trunk area. You might have a look there before you buy. I like the aero shape of the crx, but with me at 6'7" the headroom in the Metro is much better. |

^^^^ will keep that in mind.....my geo is just starting to look a bit on the rough side and I think im gonna have to throw some time and money into it soon so Im debating on whether just to get an hf or fix up my geo.....or find a geo with a junk motor for cheap and swap them out. but time will tell and for now Im just interested in more info on the hf. |

The EF CRX chassis is far better suited to handling than the Metro ever will be, but then again the double wishbone Civics are generally thought to have the best handling front drive chassis of all time so this shouldn't be a surprise. That being said, a good condition HF fetches a pretty penny as they are quite rare in original condition. Now the Metro on the other hand is generally cheaper to buy and you already have one that can serve as a parts car. If you could find a Southern or Western Metro/Swift with a good body I would probably get that for those reasons. Your old one will have very little value to a junkyard when you go to sell it, but as a parts source for another car it would probably be a real gem. Honestly then, it all depends on what you find when it comes time to do it. I know that I didn't even bother looking for a CRX because where I live they are worth a fortune whereas Metros might command $1500-2000 in good condition, and I got my rust free, original paint car for $350 needing an engine and a trans controller. |

The other factor to consider is that the metro has a back seat and the crx doesn't. This becomes a major problem when you are young and have friends. I had a Pontiac Fiero and the two seat thing was always a problem on weekends. Crx is good for a to and from work car.

the main problem is finding any rust free car in this area. and if I get another geo I can't keep another just parked by my house (cops are major d-bags bout that in my town, and its not even a nice town. lol) Believe me I would really like to have a spare car laying around for parts. I already had to smash a geo earlier in the year because the cops pretty much said get rid of the car or we are and that I will pay the towing bill. I have never used the back seat in my geo anyway. I use it pretty much as a 2 seater. and if my friends want to go anywhere then we jump in their vehicles and burn their gas lol. |

if the car is not taken apart and is registered and plated there is usually not a whole lot they can do about it. register it as a classic/antique and that takes of inspection issues too. you can "fake" an insurance card if you never intend to take it on the road. (and DON"T most states has some pretty SICK penalties for driving no insurance) |

I get that it's hard to store an extra parts car sometimes. I would have difficulty with that as well and code enforcement isn't exactly my best friend either. (That's why my car is being taken apart behind my pool in my fenced in yard where they can't see it!) What I would suggest though is pulling the engine/trans and axles and putting them in storage then junking the rotted out shell. Also take any good lights or trim pieces at that time. The trim pieces are nice spares or can be sold for decent money on E-bay or Craigslist as they are the hardest pieces to find. The same is true of a good used engine and trans. That way, instead of getting say $50 from a junkyard for the car you can probably net $500 in parts and $50 in scrap. Also remember that a good passenger's seat can become a good driver's seat if you swap the cushions over. So if you find a car with a crappy driver's seat, just reuse the passenger's seat from your current car in the new one but swap out the hardware. |

o yea they can. if its a derelict vehicle or inop vehicle. If I used it as a parts car it would be inop. Honestly I would like to fight their bs law, especially since there are many other cars that I have been for years that they won't do anything about......honestly its the cops just having nothing else to do plus its not worth fighting. Its always the same cop that gets me for the car stuff. I think he really got mad at me when I out ran his cop car with my 5.0l rx7. lol. anyways to get classic plates the car has to be 25 yrs old......but it is dirt cheap though. Im gonna put them on my 72 malibu ss (super sedan) when I get it on the road. I have the money to buy the hf im looking for, but I'm pretty happy with my geo. plus I have a 3.79 trans to throw in their and new cv shafts......o yea I still get my core charge (buzzin right now so im a little chatty). I should probably fix my frame rust when I swap out the trans and cv shafts.....but I do like hondas though. I like the style.....but I have carried 2 honda motors in the back hatch area of the geo so.....anyways im just getting ideas not buying any time soon. I just get bored with cars after so long.....I guess its like my drug, except it doesn't cause me to be homeless and angry. |

I say, if your looking for a fast car and plan to mod for more performance I vote the CRX. They seem to have more aftermarket performance parts avalible but if your just looking for a car with decent mpg go with the metro. there cheaper and in my opinion just as much fun

One of my buddies had a CRX Si and my 4door Metro was an inch longer when parked next to each other. The difference is that mine can be driven long distances without you legs feeling like there gonna fall off plus i can seat four people and my dog in it. OH and the geo doesnt go RURR DURR DURRT when you start it. God i hate that sound
