Winter is here and many people break out the starting fluid. I have mixed feelings on it. Used in small amounts it can serve a good purpose but over use can really be hard on a engine. The last place I worked it was not allowed. We got by with squirt bottles of gasoline. But this is in the deep south so every thing isnt equal. Just thought it might be a timely subject to discuss. IMO a little blast, to get it perking, won't harm a thing. Heck some guys put nitros kits on their snowmobiles! (kind of like a whole bunch of starting fluid at one time. But it's already running when it's introduced) Now that's fun! B-)

Considering a Florida winter is like our mid spring & fall, if a machine doesn't start a 40 degrees, it needs more than Starting fluid. :lol

Now when it Warms Up to -10 degrees(from -25), and I forgot to plug in the forklift :smackface ,a little blast is the only thing that will make it pop. Then leave it run for a good 1/2 hour :coffee or it's sure to start barfing fluids all over the place. :'(

I always liked the squirt bottle with gasoline. you know it won't hurt anything......but I have definetely used starting fluid in small quantities.
