Suzuki X90 Anyone?; 1.6 Litre Engine

Wondering if the 1.6 L shares any similarity to 1.3, etc. Goofy little 4WD 2 seater with t-tops. Not many brought over here for just a couple years. I remember hauling some of em..loved to have one or two of those on a load cause they didn't take up much room and tied down easy. Found a decent specimen but parts may be a problem.

Mainly concerned about the 1.6 SOHC engine reliability and repair.

The Suzuki X-90 was a small SUV sold from 1996 through 1998. It was related to the Suzuki Sidekick, but had extremely rounded styling, two doors, seating for two and T-section removable roof. It replaced the Samurai for the United States market.

The X-90 was available with four wheel drive or rear wheel drive and used a 1.6 L I4 16-valve engine which produced 95 hp (71 kW).

For such a small vehicle, I was expecting to see better numbers on the f.e. I mean 24 mpg combined? Really?? My GCJ combined does 22 mpg and is like, 4x the size of that. Cool looker, but not THAT cool :shake

Sir, yes sir!

Remember, even with the fancy body, it was still a little SUV underneath. I always thought the little Suzuki SUVs got great mileage before I did some research. It made me a sad panda.

The engine is a bigger version of the G13BB that came in the 98 and up Metros. Different block with a longer stroke and bigger holes, but basically the same head and intake.

Bogs enlightened me a little on the FE. It'll have to come cheap to offset the gas for me.

Awww Coochie...the worth of external beauty is a passing thing kinda like General Motors stock. Its relatively attractive for a spell but it's going south eventually. I used to be a dashing specimen of manhood but now I'm just a specimen.

Its a "cutesy" thing. Small package, 4 wheel drive, t-tops, its like they took all the qualities of a suv and mashed it with a sports car to produce...something that sold here for 2 years :hmm I'll admit it is cute, I'd even admit I would drive one, but danged if I would pay that much for a vehicle that has less storage space than my metro sedan and gets half the mileage. My wallets dust bunnies would revolt en-masse and strangle me.

That's all I hear from folks commenting on my choice to drive a couple GEOs..."it's cute !" While I didn't expect they would find them mucho macho, I was going more for sensibly frugal. Maybe I'll dangle a pair of them big ol' rubber bull testicles off the rear bumper and get a response other than cute.

:thumb

I'm with you, Bogs. I'm gonna keep my feelers out but it's gonna have to be a deal favoring me rather than the seller.
