depending on how much you really desire to know this guy's info.. have you thought about paying the fees for the http://www.intelius.com/ search?

I just don't recall seeing anyone mention that route...
I've never used their pay-service, and maybe there's a far better outfit than them too...

Shoot, just go talk to the neighbors one of them probably knows where the guy is and would likely be thrilled to have someone taking care of the place. Not only that but you will get a feel for what the neighbors are like and whether or not you think you can live with them.

shit woke up a little late.
googled his name. not much came up.
and as for the neighbors....the very few I probably should do that. I have talked to a few people from that town and all they know is that he doesn't live there. and I'm not planning on living there, it would cost too much for me to live by myself. I'l either use it as a rental and if its in too bad of shape just knock it down. Like I said before I want that shed

Sir, yes sir!

In some states if you pay the taxes for several years, it IS your house. Try asking the county if they have a list of properties that are going to be auctioned for back taxes. You never know if that property will show up. Just be ready to bid on the county building steps and bring cash.

o yea I think after this weekend I will ramp up the search a little more. and I do think in illinois it is like that with paying taxes, but its a little more complicated. I talked to the assessor and pretty much asked the way you said it city connection. He kind of laughed and explained it different. That was a few years ago. I might just take a trip to the court house so I can talk to the assessor in person.

damn I would really like that shed though lol
When you say shed do you mean like a 10' x 10' shed like most city folk call them or do you mean barn or tractor shed? I call a pole barn a shed but that's me. Just trying to get a visual image of what you are talking about.

haha. not a city boy. and I know what your talking about. Its like a pole barn. Definetely big enough to put a lift and store quite a few vehicles. not a little garage connected to a house. I think the shed is on 1 lot and the house is on the lot next to it.
I wish I knew the dimensions but I'm not even good with guessing feet.

well I got a hold of some people and found out the taxes are $24000. The current owner has until May of this year to pay. Honestly unless something improves greatly with the housing market, I don't see any way they could get that in the shape its in and location. There are nicer houses, almost ready to live in for high 20's....so it looks like I'm gonna have to walk away from this idea. Damn it would be nice to have that shed.

Not Really All That Smart

If you are going to spend money anyway, why not get a shed for the place you currently live?

Pole barns are cheap to buy parts for and build yourself.

pole barns are cheap? really not the ones that I've seen. And I don't own, nor will I ever own the property that I currently live at.
