So I head out to my trusted steed to head off to work on our 20 deg morning- and low and behold the drivers door is frozen shut- and I mean frozen- the thing wouldnt open for anything. I had climb in from the passenger side and get her rolling. After she heated up the door came loose, but man- what a bitch climbing my ample a@@ like a monkey to get in the car. What can I put on the door seals to prevent this from happening. I have heard of people doing vasaline, but I dont want to put anything on the seals the breaks them down, or collects dirt, (I live on a 1/2 mile dirt road).

there is spray for that type of thing...can't think of what its called. I put vaseline on an older car and it worked good. I can't think of anything off hand, but I'm sure an auto parts store would have something. I need to do that to my car also.

When its cold and you are leaving it sitting over night, just ease the door too instead of closing it the normal way.

You might try silicone spray, it does a heck of a job on window tracks. I would expect it would also make the weatherstriping slicker and less likely to freeze.

jack of all trades, master of two

SILICONE is where its at-spray it on a rag, wipe on all door seals...AND the front bumper during summer to help keep the bugs off....

Silicone spray. Have to spray down my 99 Caravan every year. Forgot this time & it stuck froze this week. Luckily the passanger door usually doesn't stick. Climbed in through there & warmed it up. I don't wipe it on I spray it on the door gaskets & let it drip if it feels like it. My 94 Metro doesn't need spraying as the door gaskets don't fit tight anyways. lol

Waxing the paint where the weatherstrip hits can help too.

I was leaning towards the silicon spray- I have used it on the window tracks and it has worked great. Off to spray I go. If I have any left- I will send it to Jezza to use as suntan lotion.
