Hi, I live in the rocky mountains and have chosen a GeoMetro as my commuting car for daily 50 kms commute on some gravel, some snow and some highway. I am buying a 1992 GeoMetro Hatchback and want to put snow tires on it. I cannot find any 12" snow tires so am looking at bigger rims and 13" tires. Do I have other options? What have people found is best to get good traction and safety in the snow and still be good on the highway. Many thanks. Meg Langley. Golden, BC |

haha at first I was thinking you were located around colorado then I noticed you said 50 km instead of 50 miles. sorry langley im no help, someone else on here will give you some ideas. And yes I think going the 13" rim/tire route might be easier....but it will throw off your speedometer. |

Hi mlangely- Welcome to the forum, have a look around an enjoy your stay. You will get your best traction and safety with dedicated snow tires. If you can't find your tires in 12", using 13" will be the next best option. When you obtain your 13" rims you will need to make a decision regarding your 10mm lugs on the car. You can keep the 10mm lugs and use "oversize" lug nuts to secure the 13'' rims to the car. You can replace the 10mm lugs with 12mm lugs and use regular 12mm lug nuts to secure the 13" rims to the car. The second choice will involve removing the 10mm lugs and drilling and installing 12mm lugs. Edward Edited by Fireball 89, Jan 7 2011, 03:48 PM.
