I have owned my metro for 10 years this coming May. Throughout this time I have poured many hours and around $4000 including body work, parts and stereo. Not bad at all considering it has given me 200k plus trouble-free miles (with exception of wheel bearings).

2.4 Cylinders of Determination

About 8 years with Fireball.

Replaced both front wheel bearings, both outside rear view mirrors, and a fuel pump. Bought but didn't need salvage yard transmission, drive shafts (both) and a starter.

Replaced regular maintenance items: plugs, caps, wires, fluids, lubricants, filters, wiper blades, bulbs, pads and shoes.

My son (12 years old) is beginning to learn about cars, Fireball will teach him about maintenance and the basics of vehicle repair before he gets his driver's license.

Well, I spent a little more on my Metro when I bought it because it was running great with no problems and had a new set of tires. I voted $100 because all I have bought so far is an MPGuino, a full tune up and fluid change. I want to go through the motor soon and I plan on making a lot of changes so that number will go up for sure!

I paid $900 for mine and have put $500 in it, including spark plugs & wires, 2 tires and hub caps, rebuilt head & used transmission, clutch, floor mats, & I'm sure I'm missing something. Just bought wing for hatchback, plastic clips to hold my interior down, door handle, & door jamb switches thanks to a friend that gave us a $100 ebay gift card! Future looking at getting 15" rims & tires, homemade fender flares & body kit, & paint job!

1500 cost of car, probably over 500 on getting the current engine installed, gifted heavy duty floor mats,

100 dollar radio, free steering wheels cover, 4 free speakers, free old seat covers, blk dollar general paint interior pieces, 4 $25 tires, $30 replacement tire, Tools, graduation tassle.

Oh well crap....i should voted higher.

I do not know if it is fair but I added it up to over $2,000 once. The JDM engine was $500 but really wanted it at the time. I needed plug-and-play as I had no garage. :shake

Also paid more for my 94. Came with new clutch, new exhaust, new tbelt 2 yrs ago. I have tuned it & changed oil, installed Syncromesh, alt belt. oil pan reseal & cam/crank seals. Very little $$$ wise. Maybe $100-150.

I paid 1500 for the car, 900 for a new top and drove it for ten years with nothing but a new right rear suspension for 600 and oil changes. New radiator, hoses, timing belt, alternator, valves and seats, planed head, rings and rod bearings for 6000. Tires 200 and pretty parts another 250. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 8500. I really like my Geo a lot!

I paid 1500 for the car, 450 for Florida registration (rip off).

I just added up everything else and I have a little over 3000 tied up in it, but mine is in almost pristine condition.

havent kept tabs on its been a labor of love with Sophia

but it was slightly over a grand for the rebuild

600 for the new RSE engine (when i resurected her for the first time)

aprox 3-400 in parts between then

roughly $500 worth of sterio equipment
and another $350 in the woofers and amp that are in the works

aprox... $800 in paint and body work to do to her (roughly)

and arround $100 in parts from the junk yard.

Taylors bill..... gonna be WAYYYY more expencive.
but that will be a labor of love as well

i love my girls
