I voted $1500-$2000. $400 for the car, $500 for the stereo, $400 for tires and atleast $300-400 in intake, exhaust, rims, decals, headliner, seat covers, neon lights, fog lights, projector headlamps.. you get the idea lol |

I paid $1200 for my Metro, spent $60 on plugs, wires, air filter, and an oil change right after I got it as good preventative maintenance. I've spent another $100 ish on oil changes (I've put over 21k miles on my Metro in the 9 months I've owned it), had to replace the passenger side half-shaft due to a ripped open CV joint and changed the transmission fluid at the same time. I spent $28 on pizza pan hubcaps (thanks mjspiess), $15 on a lawn edging front air dam, and $5 on a grill block. I spent $15 today on half the parts needed for flip-up rear-wheel skirts. I'll be building the skirts probably this week, and yes I will be taking pictures of every step for ya'lls reference. |

I got my blue Metro ( the one that still has an engine in it!) for $250 a few days before Christmas 2010. So far, I have cleaned it inside and out (around $10), replaced all of the rear fuel hoses, filter and tank seal ($50), replaced the thermostat ($8), replaced the cam seal ($6), PCV valve( $10?), wipers ( $12), added Rain X washer fluid ( $2.22) and swapped the back tires tires from the white Metro to the front of this one ($0). I still need to swap out the rack from the white car and get an alignment ($56) as well as finish up installing my junkyard speakers ($22.56), fix the A/C, replace the back tires, seal a water leak inside the car, replace an inside door handle, replace the missing window channel felt on the front doors, and do a number of other minor things to get it to be 100%. All in all it is the best $250 I have ever spent as I will probably make that back in less than 2 months of driving. The Metro may not be perfect (the manual steering is conspiring to rip my arms from my shoulders!) but any minor faults it may have are more than forgiven when it comes time to go to the gas station. It has given me back the freedom to drive for fun and for that I am quite grateful. Edited by Jim-Bob, Jan 11 2011, 03:30 AM.

In total I have only had to lay out about $300. that covered rear brake lines, shoes, and drums. Also new plugs and oil change as well as replacement drivers side outer door handle. It will add up a little bit higher come spring, need new tires, just keeping the snow tires on until the snow is done, looking forward to a little less road noise when I get all seasons for the spring summer and fall. Forsure no complaints from me with respect to cash out put. When I had my Saturn years back one trip to the service centre would cost me more. |
