Ebay it will be then! I'll set a reserve of $1,000 and put in a Buy It Now of $2500. I'll do it Tuesday as it is supposed to rain Monday and I need to take good pictures of it after assembly. It will come off the road after pictures and I will also cancel the insurance on it. That way I can go back to the truck and stop paying Progressive their blood money.

That insurance price just blows. I pay just under $1000 a year for my Metro. Had a v8 Pickup that was about $50 a month more expensive. Of course, I guessed maybe 10k miles a year tops. They asked my job(I was delivering pizza) and I said I worked at a pizza place. I don't know if it was the person or what, but they left it at that. Still even with the pizza I'd guess maybe $1250 a year? Still not bad. 20 years old, only one speeding ticket but it was a big one(86 in a 45), unmarried male. Be happy for it to go down anytime now. It'd be $410 per 6 months if I did full payments.

good luck jim bob ebay is a safe bet for fair value.

and for insurance....like someone said earlier, if you are in, were in or dependents of military soldiers then check out usaa. I pay $42 per month plus at the end of the year I get a dividend. I think it was $25 and they just took it off my december drill. I'm only 22 with a good record. No need to get full coverage on these cars anyway. Just go liability.

Sir, yes sir!

I must be the only person who gets a cheaper rate from esurance than I would from usaa. Of course the Metro(s) are not the problem, it's that damn Nissan Sentra specV. It's honestly cheaper to insure my 2 Metros and Datsun pickup than it is to insure that Sentra. :ermm:

I may try my local Craigslist for a few days before I put it on E-Bay. I am thinking of asking $1200 just to see what happens. If it goes to E-Bay, it will have a few more things sorted on it so that it is basically a turn key to the new owner. I gotta go pay the insurance by Thursday though and that sucks. However, this gives me an extra day or two to get the truck caught up on maintenance as it needs ball joints and a starter. I pulled and scrubbed the truck's driver's seat today and figure it should dry out by the time all of the repairs and maintenance are completed.

actually I shopped around and found out that progressive is almost the same price as usaa for me (except the dividend). So that doesn't surprise me at all

Why can it not be uninsured when you sell?

it can be, but I still need to make the giant payment they want this month in order to not have my policy canceled. I will probably cancel it this week after I fix a few minor things and get an alignment before putting it on the market. Once the car is sold I will pay off the rest of the insurance policy on the truck. This gives me a hedge against a downturn in business as it means I will not have to come up with the $120 a month that I have to pay for insurance on the truck until after September 20th. By that time I hope to have sold off my house and will probably no longer deliver pizza.

I deliver pizza as well, and my '91 XFi was recently totaled on a delivery. Should have known there would be a few other delivery drivers on a Metro forum! I actually asked on this forum how much my XFi was worth so I could get a fair shake from the insurance company. Here is the thread...

http://geometroforum.com/topic/4001773/1/#new

It sounds to me like it is not your job that is causing you problems, but your location. Here in WA, you can make a pretty good living delivering pizza. I usually make between $18-$25 an hour...not Rockefeller money, but it is more than enough to keep the bill collectors away. Being unmarried (got a great GF though), I live very comfortably. But with this Obamacare disaster looming, that may change. I believe my XFi was about $50 a month to insure, and as others have said, just being in Florida may be killing you in terms of insurance rates.

You simply MUST deal differently with your insurance company. The key in dealing with insurance companies is to be very careful what you tell them, and don't tell them ANY more than they are asking. My insurance company asks, "How many miles do you drive to and from work every day?" To and from...those are the key words. I drive about 5 miles to and from work every day...but I drive 135 miles while I am there! ^o) Technically, I am not lying to them based on the question they asked. If you want to play them straight-up and pay out the nose for "delivery insurance" that is fine, but believe me...if the shit hits the fan they will look for any loophole they can find to use against you. You shouldn't be afraid of exploiting loopholes, either. There are hundreds of thousands of delivery drivers in this country, and I will bet next to none of them have "delivery insurance". Nobody I know does.

When I first signed up for insurance with my insurance agent, he asked what I did for a job. Stupidly, I told him I was a delivery driver. He paused, cleared his throat, and said that "he was just going to file that away in the back of his head", essentially implying that he was going to forget I said it. He told me that he used to do delivery in college, and if his bosses knew what I did they would not insure me. From that point on, I have always been very careful about how I answered their questions...and my agent essentially TOLD me to do this.

If I were to get into an at-fault accident, I would tell my insurance company that I was either on my way home FROM work, or on my way TO work. Period. It will be on them to prove that I am lying...and only I and my boss will be privy to my timecard. If they do catch me fibbing, so be it. My employer's insurance takes over, and I get dropped from my insurance. To be honest with you, I feel that as long as I am paying my insurance bill every month it is none of their BUSINESS where I am driving to, or how much I am on the road, or why. Just be careful what you say when signing up, and what you say if you are ever in an accident. The burden of proof will be on THEM. They will have to prove you WERE delivering, you will not have to prove you WEREN'T.

BTW...I just settled up with the insurance company of the kid who pulled out in front of me. The result? I got $3200 for the car...plus I get to keep it. :rocker I think my car was worth every penny of it. As far as Metros go, it was a PEARL. Their "final offer" (pre-lawsuit) was about $1200. Amazing what $80 and a trip to the courthouse can do in terms of loosening up the purse strings of an insurance company. Small claims court is a wonderful thing. Good luck, brother. ---A
