He was paid to write a lie like this to make the Metro look less attractive. To downgrade the mpg's and safety. On a positive note it may drive away some looky loos so there is more Metros for us.

I'll second SuperDuty5.9's last statement in the above comment for sure. Maybe we will get lucky and people will leave them alone and there will be more metros for those of us who appreciate and know their true value. :rocker

Maybe old news but people were still commenting on it as late as 14 days ago. Posted: 2010-06-26 14:17:31 KY Metro writes:

these guys are idiots. I have owned two geo metros recently, a 92 and a 93, both with over 200,000 miles on them, one got 45 mpg average, the other 55 miles per galon average. 55 mpg was highway only, 45 mpg city only, and free way at 80mph. They are idiots saying a geo metro only gets 35. Complete idiots. I havent seen one get that low. period.....Old people post old stuff. LOL :banana :banana :banana

Not to be redundant but the object of the post was not the timeliest of the article but the fact that one of our members thought enough of this forum to point it out to others. I thought it was really neat to find our name mentioned in a comment. Thanks all. Did not mean to be a pest and double post everything. KY Metro writes:

billy, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply you were being a pest :dunno nor that the story was untimely, there are lots I like re-reading from time to time, like this one http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparisons/09q3/2010_honda_insight_vs._2010_toyota_prius_1998_chevy_metro-comparison_tests

I found it hilarious that they threw the Metro in as a joke entry and it wound up matching / beating the actual cars :lol

"In the past month my 1997 Metro (automatic) got 49.8 mpg on a highway trip and the next tank of gas which included two city trips was 42.7 mpg. The average was 45.98 mpg. I think this info speaks for itself. "

Somebody want to tell me what this guy is doing that i'm not?

It's no big surprise to me that Government has it's hands so far down the pants of big oil that articles like this one come out. I am the last person on earth to scream 'conspiracy' but sometimes you have to call em' like you see em'. Anyone who says the Government doesn't have a say in media is blind. Articles like this just go to show that we are at least scaring the Government and big oil. I guaran-damn-tee you that when gas starts getting so expensive that rich people can't use golf carts we'll see some legislation on the ceiling of gas prices.
