Wife thought I should post this... Went on a 200 mile round trip to the "valley" for a "vacation." Debated removing the studded snow tires but it's a light car and there was reports of snow in the Snake River Valley of Idaho. Left them on. Like Mr. Murf I got to pass an SUV on icy roads. It is overcast and foggy. Visibility is 300', a football field and there are patches of ice still on the road and it's raining. I come up on a pick-up and car following a snow plow/dump truck, that's plowing the road at 40 mph. the plow moves over but is still 2 feet in the lane. The truck/car take a hint and go to pass, crossing over the double yellow line . I'm 5-6 car lengths back but as I begin to pass the plow I see a truck coming in the opposite direction, going very fast. I simply moved to the right, got all of the Geo in my lane and still had 2-3 feet on either side, driving beside the plow as the truck passed me. This took maybe 4-5 seconds. Naturally I had a big grin on my face. Sure I might have made it with a wider car but I had plenty of room and no need to evacuate my bowels. The day's treat for me was eating two Taco Bell Tacos and a Whopper with cheese.

Your digestive system is much better than mine. Two tacos and whooper plus a close call would have found me looking for a exit. Just sayin

Good idea, cej93, but I did not have time to think about it. Rain, ice, snow plows. Our cars are great for small parking spaces and narrow escapes, eh. I didn't see that billy508. Leave town and start thinking about food.

Yeah, definitely for escapes. I was speeding 90 MPH on the highway escaping death. I was also a young teenager. |

That is no excuse young man! Mr. Murf was doing well over 75 mph (speculate 90 ) last week in the Rocket and I'll gladly pull 90 in the Filthy Beast. And we are old farts.

Two years ago my friend and I was coming back from Dothan Ala from a SCCA x cross event. He has a 944 Porsche. Our other friend had a new WRX. We were coming back on the inter state running about 85 or 90. We closed up on the WRX and I called him of the phone. I yelled "BOO!!! Look behind you!!!!" Damn he floored it and took off. We tired to keep up with him but we backed off about 130 because he was too far away. It would have been a hell of a ticket if we had got caught. All of us were over 65. Just goes to show you just because you get older dosent make you any smarter. LOL

I think the fastest I went on this trip was about 85 and that was coasting down a huge hill. I got about 5 miles for free.

I did Potter. Got out of town, saw a variety of people, the horizon and ate fast food. We may have reason to do another one pretty soon. It's a lot of fun knowing you can pass SUVs like Mr. Murf.
