Excel Spreadsheet For Those Who Want To Track Their Savings

Hey all, I just spent the last hour or so building a spreadsheet and inputing all the formulas so that you can track all this info on every fill-up by entering just a few bits of data (date, fuel price, fuel bill [since gas stations round and have fees sometimes], and odometer reading):

-Date
-Odometer
-Price/Gallon
-Distance
-Fuel Bill
-Gallons Used
-MPG
-Gallons Saved This Tank over a certain MPG (I have a formula inputed that you can change the MPG value of the car being compared)
-Cash Saved This Tank over a certain MPG
-Gallons Saved Total
-Cash Saved Total
-Total Distance
-Total Gallons Used
-Total Cash Spent on Gas

I have the spreadsheet saved in MS Office 2007 Excel, so if anybody wants a copy of the spreadsheet LMK and I'll e-mail it to you (unless of course there's a way I can attach the file on here).

I would take a copy but it is depressing seeing how little I save. This summer when I start driving the V8 Miata more the savings will be easier to see.

rmcelwee, what do you mean when you say "how little I save?" You drive a Geo Metro, the worst possible FE you can get is in the low 30's (and even that takes some work to get that low). Every little bit adds up. Currently I'm at 21,092 miles logged with a savings of $1720.59 and 604.007 gallons of gas. On average I save $30.24 every fill-up over a 20 MPG car. My fuel log allows you to edit the value of the FE rating of the vehicle being compared so you can compare it to a Prius or V8 Miata or whatever else you want. Like I said, I just need an e-mail address to send the file to, so shoot me a PM if you want a copy :) Here's what my hard copy version looks like. It's in a small green notebook I keep in my glovebox.
