Drive the speedlimit, make sure all your lights work, signal when need be.

That's how I kept from getting a ticket last time.

Don't text and drive. Don't stare at cops that sit on the side of the highway. :p

Be aware that the legal enforcement presence is a LOT higher (read - it feels like exponenetially more officers on the road) on this side of the country. I spent many years in the West, moved east for a job and was blown away by the police presence here, it is not uncommon to see 3 or more cruisers at a single traffic stop. I drive 40 miles to work and see at least 6 cruisers each day each way.

The cops never bothered me on the way down. I think as long as your plates are out of state they wont bother ya.

I wave, but only because I know most of them.

If your car is legal in your state then you should have no problem.

I don't want to give the police reason to stop me - make sure your lights work, signal for turns, full stops, wear a seat belt, obey all the signs and lines on the road. Relax. If you get nervous you are more likely to do something stupid/wrong.

Without probable cause they won't find out you don't have your license or insurance. :'(

Apparently Neon under the car is illegal in Washington night driving? http://apps.leg.wa.gov/204-21-230 Lighting equipment prohibited. If a vehicle is not in motion and parked on private property, the vehicle may use aftermarket lighting except as outlined under RCW 47.36.180.

Here is a link to window tint laws http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/ Mud flaps are a DOT issue for trucks and commercial vehicles.

As long as you're not driving through Ohio with Michigan plates.. :D

And to the OP, I would not drive with any neons on at all. Cops seem to have a dislike for that around this part of the country from what I've heard. Window tint should be fine since you're from out of state, but you may still be stopped for it, I just can't see them issuing a ticket for it.

Contrary to what most of you guys believe, the fact is simple as this: If you drive a Geo Metro-Period-Especially a 3 Cylinder one, you are Ticket Bait. Enough Said. You may bitch at me all you want for me saying this, but you can't deny this fact. Simply Put: Cops Hate all Geo Metros. I should Know. I have been Wrongfully Pulled over in the most damndest places. They don't always pull you over. Sometimes when they see your Geo Metro (same goes for all 3 Cylinder Chevrolet Sprints too.) they will pull out or flip a U-Turn and Tail you for a long time waiting for you to even Breath Wrong or even as much as only going 0.1 MPH over just to have an excuse to pull over your Geo Metro. Yet the Pickups and the SUVs can break every law in the book and the Cops will look the other way. Woodie, I've gotten flak from you in the past on this--I'm NOT Paranoid. There have been many times that I have been minding my own business and doing the speed limit and just glance in the rear view and There is the Dickhead behind me with his Lights and Siren plastered on my '90 4Dr's hatch for no valid reason. I had this happen to me on the San Bernardino Freeway on my way back home from the Ontario Truckstops. I was terrorized by a Cadillac Sedan deVille Pimpmobile Homeboy. He had all 4 Headlights on me and was endangering my life by tailgating me. The Communist Hitler Party, er, the California Highway Patrol Attacks ME and gives ME the Speeding Ticket and was Oblivious to the Cadillac Sedan deVille. Later, I tried to fight this at the Rancho Cucamonga Courthouse and Lost because the CHP Officers merely mentioned "Geo Metro" to the also racist judge. Does Ely Nevada sound familiar? And this was well over 10-15 or so odd years back. Imagine now. I was hassled also in Lakin KS, Russell County KS, in Elkhart IN, Tonopah NV, Imperial Beach CA, and I'm not gonna get into Yerington NV,-That POS town can go to Hell-just goes to show you what you can expect from Law Enforcement in this Day and Age. I'm not making this up; this has happened and it can happen to you too. No matter how much you try to obey all their stupid laws and mind your own business you'll still be pulled over just because they do not like your particular make and model car. And it Will Happen sooner or later.

Sorry, I'm Not a fan of Cops or Law Enforcement in any way Whatsoever. I'll Serve and Protect MYSELF Thank You!!

I had my 1973 Pontiac Firebird for many years plus my 1968 Chevrolet Corvette 427/390 and never had this much trouble. Nope, it's the 3 Cylinder Subcompact somewhat newer car that they don't like. Though No Fault of Mine Whatsoever.

And let me add, the Firebird was RED!!

Im sorry but I have to disagree with you in every way, shape, and form. I have driven both old cars and newer trucks. I can without doubt say that law enforcement is attracted to big, loud, smelly diesel trucks way more than a small putsy car. I can barely go through town without at least drawing a look from someone in uniform. About half that time ive been pulled over, but I can usually get off on a warning for having illegal exhaust or it being too loud.
And on the second point, theres no reason to disrespect everyone in uniform. They pulled you over because you were disobeying the law. I dont like getting pulled over and ticketed anymore than the next guy, but you are making a pretty broad statement by saying that you can serve and protect yourself. You should go ahead and remember that the next time someone decides they want to steal a car, maybe yours. And especially with the shooting that just happened. Next time why dont you go ahead and jump in there and stop it
